Moisture in taillights

So local dealership won't replace my fishbowl
Taillights cause I spray tinted them. What a joke toyota should be ashamed of themselves. 1000's of people with moisture in taillights and there own brand new cars in parking lot have moisture in taillights and they deny me cause I have spray tint on them comeon. How ridiculous sorry jus figured I would share.

Try another dealership, also call Scion HQ directly. In the meantime you can still use the vehicle. Not saying you will succeed, but you shouldn't give up yet either especially since it doesn't affect the cars drive-ability.

youc can try and buff the paint off, and claim they were never painted

Try a different dealership. Lawrence Toyota replaced both mine without a problem.

The ethyl acetate in the spray tint product acts as a solvent to the silicon dimethyloxide-based adhesive that keeps the two shells of the tail light together, breaking the bond and allowing moisture in.

just kidding. I'm practicing to be a dealer mechanic.

Is your car flagged in their computers if they deny servicing a part because of modifications?

To be "anal" the rear lights gaskets are one time use, if you removed them and sprayed them and installed them back, they do have ground for cancelling the warrenty.

However, it is very shameful I understand, I would fix it myself because it's such a simple fix...why don't you try the silicon trick others have posted? Then you won't have to re-tint new lights anyway.

It's the gasket on the back of the fixture. The TSB is in the above stickies.

i believe jus the taillights but i also had car in for drl not working and power mirrors not work. and they wouldnt fix them either because i put HIDs in car. so i searched around and seen somewhere that the resistor for the drl might be linked with the power mirrors. The only thing i can think of is that the 55w hid maybe blew the resistor so i bought 35w hids and a new resistor assemply for drl and ima see if that fixes the problem i wont know for a few days cause i jus ordered the stuff. only thing i can think of is because of the 55w hids idk.but yeah they wouldnt look at that problem either because i put hids in car hahaha
