stronger/forged internals

I don't know a lot when it comes to upgrading the internals of an engine but I am curious as to what is available at the moment for the 86/brz/frs. engine components that would allow for guaranteed reliability when putting more stress on the engine :) also including pricing would be great.

*** I believe that Crawford also has a forged shortblock: google it

Accelerated Performance and Crawford Performance both have shortblock and long block packages.

My local shop has also just done a motor build last week ;)

why? :bonk:

There is nothing as reliable as OEM. After the limits of the engine are found than start looking for alternatives. So far the FA20 engine has proven to be very strong.

Aftermarket =/ reliable

Mother of god. What the fuck are you doing now?

Tyson 03-13-2013 10:46 PM

is there other internal engine components that require upgrading? other than pistons and rods?

That was MRP right? They are a 20 min drive from me, any details on that build?

This is with stock internals.

If you need more than ^ to get your adrenaline rush then you need a new addiction. May I suggest naked shark diving, meth, or bank robbery.

I haven't really studied the crankshaft in these cars, but I guess that would be another potential weak point.

What you need to do to the motor depends on what you're trying to do with the car...run boost, spin the motor higher, prep it for endurance racing...

After the motor gets fortified, then you need to also consider the clutch, cooling system, etc. once you start going for big power.

I would recommend doing quite a bit of research on engine components and engine builds on here before sinking any money into forged internals...

Calum 03-14-2013 06:47 AM

Wow, I can't wait to see where this goes. Or how you get even 600 whip to the ground...?

If its not 1k whp, I wouldn't bother. May as well go big or go home now.

Does anyone know or have any experience with using forged internals in a DD?

Any draw backs from running forged internals?
