Greddy SP Elite + EVS Evasive Motorsports Front Pipe = Slight Boxer Rumble

Hey folks, I figured I'd post this since no one seems to have the SP Elite with a front pipe set up. The front pipe is non catted/non resonated. I was surprised it gave the car a little Boxer rumble; sounds a lot cleaner in person though (stupid iPhone mic). Enjoy!

Sounds good. Now you need midpipe for a more aggressive sound :)

HAHA Agree. I'm actually putting in headers first; this will determine weather I will be upgrading the midpipe or not; depends on how loud it will get with the header. I don't want it to be too loud for a Socal daily commuter.

sounds great!!

Thatruth2001 03-13-2013 06:37 PM

Personally, I did the nameless 1 piece over/front pipe combination with the SP Elite and the sound is great. Hoefully I will have the nameless header installed once released in early April.

I have mine with a Motiv Test pipe, sounds just like yours!

How's the exhaust fumes/smell in cabin?

I am kinda torn about the over pipe. Think it was worth the money? I'm getting UEL headers soon; so either I'm gonna change the overpipe at the sametime as the headers and leave the stock midpipe or leave the overpipe stock and upgrade to an aftermarket midpipe. Torn :iono:

No fumes what so ever in the cabin, It's not even bad standing behind the exhaust. My previous cars with straight pipes were much stinkier.

people said mine smelled fruity ;)

Thank you so much! Really appreciate your effort. Nice set up! Am drooling!

If I go with a catted front pipe, would it sound a lot quiter?

raytrix 10-03-2013 12:44 AM

How come non of your video's you rev it over 3500rpm? I can barely get an idea of how this setup sounds like. The other videos you have are after you have UEL installed which I don't want to hear that setup.

m.wood0213 10-03-2013 01:06 AM

I like this setup. not that expensive either. Does the car feel like it has a bit more power?

Corner3garage 10-03-2013 02:13 PM

That sounds so good! Our customers have been pairing the SP elites with Berk front pipes!

TRD_86 10-03-2013 11:01 PM

How is this set up compare to Ark grip/dts & the new 3" Perrin in sound?

I'm sorry to dig up this thread but... Have you had any problems with getting pulled over because of fumes smell or other factors I'm kinda iffy about the front pipe because California isn't cat removal friendly :(
thank you

Honestly just go catted and save yourself the worries. When i owned my Subaru, a lot of guys would go for catless Down pipe but i went catted and everyday i drove my car for 5 years, i never was worried about it being illegal or having issues with police.

So personally, i know it's expensive to go catted, but in the long run it saves you the headache.

I'm personally going catted.

Not to mention you don't really gain much performance--if any--from removing that 2nd cat, and it also helps to get rid of rasp

Or just leave it stock >_> Not much if any gains leaving it catted just a different sound.

EXCellR8 07-30-2015 08:47 PM

I have the same setup... SP elite and straight front pipe except mine's a Tanabe. I don't find that it added much rumble but I'm working on getting a catted UEL header to fix that. The current setup isn't loud at all except when you first start it. Hopefully the header doesn't make it much louder, I just want a little bit of rumble.
