Official SoCal 86 Club Meeting!- Long Beach

Saturday March 30th, 5-7pm

By the Performance Bicycle at the Long Beach Town Center

7611 East Carson Street, Long Beach, CA 90808

This will be the first of 3 official regional SoCal 86 Club meetings before a huge, central meeting in June to kick off the founding of the SoCal 86 Club (just around the 1 year anniversary of the car's launch)! This is more than a parking lot meet. We will be getting your opinions and discussing what this club should be about, what benefits you want to pull from it, and how you want it organized. We will also be displaying the official SoCal 86 Club logo and Merchandise to sport your 86 pride! There are many benefits to the collective power of a car club that goes above and beyond the great family atmosphere we see on the forums. With the tight knit community the 86/FRS/BRZ has already developed, I have no doubt there will be many great things to come from this club!

Feel free to come out whether you have an FRS, BRZ or not, and invite as many friends and family as you wish. This is an enthusiasts club so we welcome all! Just remember, with any group meeting there will be no racing, no revving engines, no burn outs, and no disrespectful behavior towards attendees or others in the shopping center.

Following this meeting we will be holding a large meeting every month in various locations around Southern California to pull as many different members from as many different areas as possible before we settle on a central club meeting location. This will all culminate in a giant kick off meeting this summer featuring several surprises. If you have any questions on this meeting, future meetings, or the SoCal 86 Club in general, feel free to PM me.

I look forward to meeting everyone Saturday March 30th at 5pm at the Long Beach Town Center and hearing all of your great ideas!

Calidrifter 03-13-2013 01:40 PM

Quick suggestion:

Since there is already a thread called official socal86 club meeting you should update the first post on that thread and bump it.

Hopefully I can make this one but might be tough since I plan on going to Buttonwillow the following day.

DNAPoPo 03-13-2013 02:03 PM

Shoot, I'm going to be in NYC that weekend!

Pinky 03-13-2013 02:56 PM

Cool

KVDB31 03-13-2013 03:05 PM

I'll definitely be there!

Great to see something organized and official coming together!

Can we start a running list of people attending and keep adding to the first post?

Agreed! Having an official club is going to be sweet and I'm excited to see people interested.

DAMotorsports 03-13-2013 07:06 PM

@Itbecharles562 that makes two of us

Pinky 03-13-2013 08:24 PM

I'm going.

Jeong 03-13-2013 09:13 PM

id be down to go. when you say there will be 3 different meets does that mean one might be closer to sd area? cause its still a heck of a drive :P

AE86guy 03-13-2013 09:49 PM

Just letting you know, there is a car meet hosted by SIM(Import Tuner, Super Street, and Modified) on the same day. They are doing a cover car search and Formula D tech day along with food trucks and giveaways. It's from 10-5 and is in Irvine.

Since this one starts when the other one ends I might do both!

niceguy21 03-13-2013 10:32 PM

I got time, I'm going :)

There was quite a bit of discussion about where the meets would be located. We definitely want to include people from surrounding areas, like San Diego, Riverside/High Desert, Santa Clarita, and Ventura (all give or take). We did feel that we had two solid bases to start with, which is a core group in South Bay and a core group in the San Fernando Valley, and we didn't want to go too far from our home base.

We picked locations that we hope will strike a balance. I will say that Long Beach is the furthest south location we have picked out.

We want part of these meets to be discussions about what you want from the club, and if there is a big demand for meets further south, we definitely want to move that direction. This is our chance to form this club into what we want!

that_one_guy 03-14-2013 12:21 PM

bump and updated confirmed attendees.

Exactly, we have a lot of ideas to include everyone from all areas but it's always best to get your input

Chokeefrs86 03-14-2013 02:30 PM

Fish 03-14-2013 05:02 PM

Should be able to make it.

that_one_guy 03-15-2013 12:58 PM

Wow, we've got a good group planning to attend. I'm looking forward to this!

enzeruvs 03-15-2013 01:48 PM

I missed the last few meets, so I'll do my best to go to this one. I seriously want to design shirts and jackets... :D

86design 03-15-2013 01:58 PM

Ill be there but not with the BRZ :/

add me to the list :D

whataboutbob 03-15-2013 02:27 PM

Can't make it. I'll be competing in the SCCA AutoX National event in San Diego. Thanks for your work on making the club meet happen!

that_one_guy 03-18-2013 12:40 PM

Bump and updated the list. Also remember, this is the meeting we'll vote on the official SoCal 86 Club logo for stickers, shirts, sweaters, jackets, etc. so if you want a say in what'll be on your car/back make sure to show!

that_one_guy 03-19-2013 12:27 PM

Tuesday morning bump. For all of those going to tonight's Irvine meet, be sure to spread the word about this SoCal 86 Club meeting in Long Beach on March 30th. The more support we get, the better the benefits you will receive from the club!

CSG Mike 03-19-2013 12:50 PM

Oh, this is fairly close to me. I can bring the CSG BRZ, or my s2k, or maybe a client's car (any requests?).

Do we have a prelim sticker design down? We just bought a few hundred yards of sticker material... (means I'll get to be the one making stickers) and I could make a "OG meet" sticker that will never be available again after the 1st meet :)

Hell, bring all three cars if you'd like! Some type of "86 Club Genesis" sticker would be cool. Or maybe we could do little 1" square sized characters printed on stickers, a different character at each meeting we'll eventually trade like Olympic pins, haha

CSG Mike 03-19-2013 03:19 PM

Genesis makes me think Hyundai... Maybe I got to much cars on my mind.

Can someone sketch me a design? It'll take me some time to cut the stickers. (I'm the driver for CSG... this is not my day job).

that_one_guy 03-19-2013 03:57 PM

What about "SoCal 86" but use the greek lower case alpha for the 'a' in SoCal?

TeamSweet86 03-19-2013 08:23 PM

count me in

CSG Mike 03-20-2013 04:37 AM

Someone post up designs, and I'll pick something. If nobody selects, I'll make something, and I guarantee it'll be bad :)

calis5nest 03-20-2013 12:58 PM

lol ^ someone post something plz

Stay tuned for more info on this... If all goes according to plan, we will try to get a caravan from this meet to the Long Beach meet.

Add me to the list, it looks like I'm not going to NYC after all.

Vino 03-20-2013 01:19 PM

Count me in
Thanks
