Hi everyone i dont think i see a post on carbon fiber care! so i just Like to ask you guys how you Clean them/ protects them!! And anyone know much about seibon's carbon fiber quality? Im thinking of getting some fender pieces from them so would like some insites from you guys? Do you guys now if they hold up well during the winter too!! haha thanks!

treat them as if it's automotive paint. keep it waxed/sealed as Seibon's gel coat WILL fade if not.

Carbon fiber care really depends on the manufacturer and their manufacturing technique. Some use UV resistant gel coats when curing the product, some do not. If you want to be 100% sure it'll be protected against the elements, I would spray the product with a clear coat before installation, then treat it as a typical painted product, otherwise the product will get hazy over time.

There are UV resistant clear coats that will slow down the process, but yellowing is inevitable unless you only drive on cloudy days/night. We're talking years for that to happen though. However, after it yellows you can sand it down and clear it again to get a nice black finish to reappear.

Will optiguard/opticoat prevent yellowing?

I renewed a CF hood using M101, then 205, wiped it down and opticoated. That thing came out great.
|
Also see this thread from another user who bought a carbon fiber hood from seibon.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=31411&page=2 I believe the supra hood I purchased was heavier than the OEM hood. I always feel like if I'm going to be picky on weight for my car, I might as well lose a few pounds on myself first. :) |

I always thought it was funny going to the Drag Raceway by me to see a Honda with holes cut in the bumper to shave 1/2 lb only to see a 350 lb guy climb out of it... This really happens.. |
I sand and clear coat every carbon part we install at my shop. Have not had any come back yet for fading and some have been done over 4 years ago.
