Nitrous systems on these cars? Forum opinions?

Just saw a nitrous system got released for these cars. What are your guys' thoughts on it?

I'd think it'd make the stop light drags at least a little bit more fun.

The last time this topic came up, Vesuvius itself erupted. (:

I have no issues with nitrous. Nitrous isnt the problem, people are.

it would be nice to see a couple dynos with various set ups

With nitrous these cars will actually make some torque, and wont add another 75lbs to the car while doing it. Its a viable option and I think it should be explored.

Sorry... :(

Amateurs don't use nitrous oxide. I've seen how you drive. You've a heavy foot.

Lol.. Seriously though. It's a power adder. Nothing wrong with that. Just like any power adder, needs to be done right.

would work fine if you had an ecutek tune for it. Just not most peoples thing

JoeBoxer 03-10-2013 06:00 AM

I think the 35 or 50 shot would be pretty safe i wouldn't go much higher than that though unless you can afford to pay if it breaks.

I would run it if it was SCCA legal. Otherwise, if your not draggin whats the point?

That's what I was thinking. It'd be fun for stop light drags but other than that...

I wonder if the stock engine could handle a 25-50 shot without a tune?

jwjknorr 03-11-2013 03:40 AM

From experince, if you have a good kit, and a clutch that can handle it, nitrous in the 50 shot range on 4 cyl and 75 on 6's will not cause harm to the car. As long as you dont go lean, or rich , your fine. Most cars can handle nitrous stock , except for the clutch. There is alot of fear about it, but ive seen people use 3 bottles a weak. Perosnaly i only sprayed a bottle every two months in my past cars, a civic, and a 6 cyl tiburon. Both were the same kit i moved it over when i sold the car, both ran as good as the day i got them , the tib i started at 28k miles , and the took it to 100k before i traded it in. Its the same strain as a blower , just not always on. Just dont be stupid and shoot more then the car can handle. Nitrous can be used at a motor sport track to and last, just on strait aways and such , drifting not so much. Would still take a blower over no2

wparsons 03-11-2013 11:12 AM

Will any circuit tracks or auto x allow nitrous? I always thought it was only allowed for drag cars?

You would empty a bottle in a big hurry, probably only a couple laps at best.

I've got a unused purple zex controller with stainless lines and guage if anyone wants to try it. Dont have the bottle.
