The only refresh they should do, here in america at least, is bring more options to the FR-S or, at the very most, bring the TRD GT86 here, because this whole mono spec thing is becoming ridiculous now.

You think you have it bad...in Australia we get the GT and GTS...that's good...but you go across a small stretch of water and get them and the TRD...now that's just teasing us...it's horrible having it so close but knowing they have no plans on bringing it here...most places here won't even deal with the trd stuff for you to buy separately.

Ah, so the only ones that get reasonable gas mileage are small displacement, less or equal power to the FR-S, or commuter sedans. And the fun ones worth driving get mediocre-to-bad mileage.

how many of those cars have a smaller displacement or less power than the frs? in fact, the 335i has bigger displacement and more horsepower than any car you mentioned.

Saw this on Jalopnik. Thought I would share with you guys. Personally I would hop all over a SC 86..

What do you all think of a possible HYBRID DRIVE 86 though? Similar to the likes of some of the new cars at Geneva?

Oh, and BTW abt HP talk in thread. Even w/ non-OEM conforming exhaust setups (no cats & ridiculous sound levels), CAI, e85 etc--50hp hasn't happened yet.

That's funny, my 2008 Mini Cooper S got better gas mileage than my FR-S, and I averaged 36 MPG on a 6000 mile drive from Texas,through the western states, and back, which include a long run up the PCH from San Francisco to Washington state. I just wish my FR-S got as good of mileage as my Mini did. And it had direct injection and the fuel pump didn't chirp...

1. That doesn't cheer me up, that's like saying you have lobster when you want caviar too, while we have crab when we want lobster too

Americans shouldn't get their hopes up.
Everything boils down to cost here. Just look at the MKVII GTI. They'll strip absolutely everything down to keep it cost effective.

I think they'll have a turbo Mustang with IRS and a lighter weight to box in the ring with, then.

The Velostor you listed is a 1.6L, the GTI and Kia are both 2.0L. There are all sorts of tricks to get better gas mileage out of a vehicle, and most have to do with gearing. Kind of like how a 6L Corvette can get 30mpg highway because it cruises at 1200rpm. But when you have a turbo shoving more air in, you're going to burn more fuel all-- other things equal.

I'm not sure what you're trying to argue, unless its that some non-sport-car turbos under certain conditions make decent gas mileage, while turbo sports cars make worse.
