Good Sites and Books to learn about cars
 
I don't know anything about cars period and want to educate myself on how it works, maintenance.

I am going to buy a FR-S for my daily driver(no track for me)

I've been googling and looking around for books, but maybe some of you have good sites and books to learn from?

I was considering taking auto classes at my local CC, but they currently dont offer classes after 7PM(after i get off work).

Any suggestions would be great.

I could reference some racing/suspension books but I'm guessing that's not what you want. Are you looking for a "car maintenance for newb mechanics" type book?

One step at a time? I barely know how to change my Oil, but want to increase my knowledge a great deal.

what did you use when you started learning about cars?

I wanna know how each part works together for starters.

^^This, I've acquired most of my knowledge about cars and computers from forums, youtube, and from classes in high school. The internet is your friend ^_^ (most of the time)

Best teacher I think is your own vehicle. You can head over to the Tacoma forums and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help you. And you'll have your vehicle right there to see it for yourself.

...of course, if its your daily driver, maybe not such a good idea to rebuild the engine right this second :)

I'm not sure I used anything, I just figured it out. I'm a decent troubleshooter with most electrical/mechanical items so I just kept troubleshooting until finding a problem. Forums are definately helpful to as people will write DYI/How to guides to common things.

It's probably best for you to ask specific things so people here can answer :thumbup:

I think since you don't know what you're looking for, forum is the best because as you have questions, you can post and people will reply.

When the car is released and people start to play with it, DIYs should be posted.

1. Get an FSM learn and read how to use them
2. Find friend who have same intrest as you
3. Help out if friends tune, swap or anything about cars
