Tein Street Basis Coilovers installed

Just want to say thanks to Dan at Real Auto Dynamics for helping with these.

Before my initial purchase of these coilovers i was on a crossroad between Megan's or BC's. At first i just wanted to go low without any hesitations which is why i wanted to get Megan's or BC's . But then i took a step back and thought about the build quality- i wasn't a big fan of taiwanese build quality coilovers.

While Megans are known to go LOW, the build quality wasn't up to par and BC's (which i had on my old car) had the potential to go low while maintaining a good build, i wasn't a fan of the ride.

When i contacted Dan @ Real Auto Dynamics, he pushed me aside from both and had suggested Tein. I knew that Tein's were a reliable coilovers but pricy as well which is why i never gave it a thought, but once Dan suggested the Street Basis which were reliable & affordable and could go low aswell, i took a shot at it.

Tein- One of the most reputable coilover company out on the market, didn't displease me once after i installed them.

Price: $800+ (depending where you buy it from)

Drop:
Front- 2"
Rear- 2.3"

Spring rates:
5k
6k

Driving Condition: Living in the Empire State, the road conditions are horrible, especially after winter. I actually expected the ride quality to be too bouncy or stiff- since my last coilovers. This was not the case at all. It was neither too bouncy nor too stiff, just right. Though it is not as better than stock suspension, it does absorb shock very well for coilovers. Taking a turn at 50mph with stock suspension and now, shows significant improvement. Im very much hugging the road very well than stock.

Though what displeases me is that it doesnt come with camber plates nor adjustable dampening- but yet again these are entry level coilovers from tein.

All in all, if anyone is looking for a budget coilover which has a good build quality, can go low, and can be used as a daily driver the Street Basis is a good choice.

*Note: These are maxed out both front and rear without taking out any perches , but will be getting shorter springs to go lower ;)*

looks great, i would get spacers next if you're planning to keep stock wheels.

Great to see someone finally review these! :)

We love our Teins.

Hey Josh,

It was great having you at the shop! I'm glad you like them!

Running any camber correction at the back currently? And if not how bad is the rear?

Been wanting to try these myself, not planning on going super low but seems like a nice kit for the price.

I've sold a couple sets. Both customers called me after installation to tell me how happy they were.

I had a set of Tein Basic's on a car a few years ago which I was happy with. Than I had Tein Flex's on my STI. Which were stiff but worked well. Never had a service issue with either of them.

I would definitely recommend there product based on build quality and value.

Their product is at best okay. but their work ethics is at the bottom of the barrel .

below was my experience during the development with them for our car.

lets say i'll never buy a Tein or advise anyone else do get Tein. even though with some shop the built quality may not be perfect, but you get what you pay for. with Tein, you will probably get a bait and switch.

Nearly every track record in our area is held with off the shelf Teins. Sounds like a pretty good deal. Have you tested their product to be able to say that it is "at best okay"? I think the results speak for themselves.

Are you accusing us of a bait-and-switch because Teins are part of our catalog?

what i mean by their product are okay at best is that when i compare their product to the overall market offering. when factoring their price point, features, utility, quality, and durability of their general product line into account, it have place them in the middle of the pack. thus at 50 percentile or okay at best.

my accusation of a bait-and-switch is not directed toward you or any vendors carry Tein product. I was aiming at Tein's business practice of over promise and under deliver as detailed in my thd about my development experience with them.

I cant dispute the fact that records holder in this area favors Tein. however, correlation does not equal causation. since i don’t know the other variables in the equation, i cannot speak further on this subject.
Please don’t take my comments on Tein personal. I felt that I was wrong by Tein so I throw in my 2 cents.

We're not Tein, but let us know if we can do anything to assist in rectifying the situation.

You are still running the springs? Did you pay anything for them or the install? The S-Tech aren't known for their ride, i've got the H-Tech and have been very pleased with the ride of them and ride height. I'm just surprised with such a negative attitude of the product that they would still be on your vehicle, i know if i had such a bad experience i wouldn't have that company's parts on my car.
