Opinions on sound induction tube
Hi, I've been driving the BRZ for more than a month, had an oil fluid change already, etc. I've got some opinions for the sound induction tube that makes the intake sound inside the cabin, and have some questions on what you think.
During break-in, the induction sound was a little snorkely, maybe even raspy. After fluid changes, it became better and darker sounding , no longer rapsy, but I think it retains some of a snorkely sound due to the plastic tubing. I've seen some of the TRD sound changer tubes that can be installed- I'm running stock so if any of you have a recommendation or opinion of those let me know. I'm wondering if there's any sound tubing options other than the plastic-PVC snorkelized sound. If there's anything better, metal or kevlar (or hemp cone? lol but serious question). Or perhaps delete the tube altogether and get the Perrin Silicone intake tubing instead. |

My vote is for the Perrin tube. Super easy to install, and just deletes the stupid noise generator completely.
Why worry about what noises it's piping into the car, just take the whole thing out and save the 1-2 lbs. |
Deleting the noise generator is the way to go. The wind wooshing noise on the highway was annoying, so I installed the Perrin intake tube.

buy an intake that will delete it or buy a delete kit. Let the engine make the sound through the fire wall. If I wanted fake noise I would get a sound file and play it my car.

I'll never understand the hate for the sound tube. If I could amplify it I would, but delete it?
I just don't understand. |
Im thinking about the perring CAI with the stock rubber tubing plumbed to the cabin. I love the noise it makes!

Ive got the AEM it deletes the sound tube. This intake is louder w/o the sound tube. I think the sound tube does nothing but clutter the bay.
