Which trim do you think this number comes from? FR-S, BRZ, 86, manual, auto, etc.

2689 lbs. has been thrown around in a few reviews; I'd wager it's the weight of the any of the AS1 manuals regardless of spec. The big question has been whether that's dry or wet weight.

This and whether there is any difference due to JDM vs USDM safety/emission regulations.

How much weight does adding "liquid" to the car generally add?

I doubt that's a factor anymore; JDM, USDM, and Euro safety & emission regulations are about the same right now. That's why you are seeing more "world cars" like the Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta/Mazda 2, Chevy/Holden Cruze, etc.

Estimate 6lbs/gallon of gas. Total for all fluids I would say under 100lbs. Maybe 80-90lbs max.

Also from a cost perspective, it would make sense to build just one version instead of variations of the same thing just to meet regulation standards.

Tada has said the USDM gets a different exhaust. Weight probably won't be vastly different but who knows. I agree it won't be vastly different but it could vary by +/- 10 lbs.

Even with a "world car" they still taylor it for the specific markets... obviously I won't broach the subject of heated seats. dual-zone HVAC, HIDs, etc., but Americans do put more importance on sound that any other market which is probably why we get the special exhaust. That may be about 2 lbs. less than JDM/Euro, but like transformer said +/- 10 lbs between markets sounds about right.

But it's not only the sound, the USDM model has a 3hp bump. We're assuming that 3hp comes from the different exhaust. There just isn't enough information right now until we can get one in our hands in late March/early April.

At least Toyota/Subaru are offering one engine worldwide. It's common that the USDM market gets a slightly de-tuned engine depending on the model car.
