Car Died in front of Work

Turning onto the street in front of my work and across the street from the Toyota dealer my car decided to die. Basically the engine stayed on but would not accelerate. Lights on the dash were abs, traction, battery, and oil light. No check engine light though. Car would not start back up again either. It just got towed to the dealer today so I will keep you guys posted on the issue.

So far the dealer has put in a work order with Toyota but has no idea with the issue is.

Day 1 3/7
Day 2-No Update
Day 5-No Update (Will hopefully have an update for me tomorrow 3/12)
Day 6-Got the car back.

Here is what was written on the invoice. Check power source for ECU and found 15AMP EfI control fuse blown. Install new fuse and popped immediately, short ground somewhere in system. Open case and was advised to try to isolate short by disonnection sensors in system. When taking off metal bracket on bank 1 near parts injectors #3 pass rear wire grounding out of bracket. Fix insulation with liquid tape and apply felt to bracket and reposition injector to now rub.

Yea I wish but with this snow and the fact I would have to cross Rt 44 which is a death trap it was a no go.

Engine mods are just a drop in filter and cat back.

Sad to hear about this, hope it's not too serious. At least it's nothing they can pin on you.

Yea it is what it is. Dealer should have something for me by 5pm. I did notice however that there was a lot of sand in the engine bay. Is that normal?

Lmao. Well there seems to be a lot of sand/dirt in the engine bay. Seems like its easy for that to get in the bay from under the car. Just curious because it seems like a lot for owning the car for less than a year.

Car has about 14500 miles and is a MT

That is strange, from experience and what others have posted because the exhaust and exhaust shielding underneath the engine bay is practically sealed from below keeping it relatively clean, although sounds like your in snow country so your mileage may vary.

Dirt shouldn't hurt the car though assuming everything was built as designed.

Edit: coming up on 5,000 miles and my engine bay is like an 9/10, just needs a hose down. BUT, I'm in sunny California so it'll probably look like that for the next two years.

Spoke with the dealer and they said it was from some sort of electrical short. They are not sure where it came from. I'm curious if its from the rear fog install. Hmm

Uh Oh

Sounds curiously like what happened to me last weekend in my other post.

I was reading through that post a few days ago and find it very ironic. I don't think my car was showing the same symptoms though. If the dealer pins the damage on me I will have to claim through insurance. $300 comp ded but better than paying full price.
