Anyone elses panel filter not fit properly?
 

I have a K&N drop in air filter and it seems to be a little too big. Anyone else have this problem with their filter? If you don't have this problem what filter are you using?

Might just be that "wedging" issue some people are having.

i think i may have the same issue, i will take out the airbox, to make sure its perfectly fit and also do a resonator delete =D

One of the filter's four corners is different from the rest and needs to be matched with the correct corner of the air box.

Can someone take a pic of their K&N filter so i can see how it should sit?

I chose to use the Perrin OEM fitment filter. Took me two tries to get it orientated where the filter cover fit snugly. Try what was suggested above flip and match the corners. I have used K &N filters in the past and found them well made for each application.

that's the best i've got off hand.

With my K&N I had to make sure it was properly inserted in the front half of the box then slowly pulled and pushed down on the other half, the filter sealed itself properly all around. It fits but like the others have pointed, make sure it's inserted in the right way and it will fit quite snuggly after.

Take the airbox out of the car as it makes it much easier. The "fins" point to the front of the car with the different corner on the bottom left if that makes sense and just lay it in the main part of the airbox. You'll notice that the filter has a groove all around it, this is actually where the front section mounts back into to make a tight seal. TBH if the airbox is out it'll just mate straight up. I got it wrong the 1st time but it's simple once you know how.

If I'd have paid enough attention then I'd have some too, my airbox has been taken out and opened so many times this past week. OP, follow the instructions in that link, it really is very simple. Once you undo the 10mm bolts and loosen the pipe clamp then you can get the airbox like this:

Then you can't go wrong. You can see that the lower left corner is the larger one so that's where the bigger part of the filter goes. You can probably make out that the filter is sticking towards the snorkel opening. If you get it like that, take the cover off the top, place the filter in the main part and then you can replace the cover with no issues at all.

If you try to put the filter in the correct direction (with the flat front facing forward) it won't install correctly. The bottom won't seal and will push up and then the top won't seal and you risk breaking something by forcing the box closed the metal clips closed.

There is only one way to orient it.. So, look at the filter, find the big corner. That big corner goes on the bottom toward the passenger side. This forces you to install it in the direction that has the fat side sticking forward. It seems backwards, but if you look at the actual filter panel you will realize that it doesn't matter because the air will flow through the filter just as easily either way.

Once you have the fat part facing forward and the big corner setting on the base, insert the tabs on the bottom part of the box into the open receiving holes, then close it from the top forward and when tight on top, snap the metal clasps closed.
