A bit of Automotive Sacrilege
 

Originally I was simply going to buy 16" steel wheels from Tire Rack for my snow tires, but now it looks like my BRZ will be arriving just in time for good weather.

This means I have time to save up money and get some interesting wheels, so I wanted to explore an odd option: Reconditioned 15x7.5 wheels from a Lancia HF Integrale Evolution. http://www.integrale.org.uk/cart139h...roducts_id=431

I see that someone has mounted 15" wheels to the BRZ, but it's not a popular option. I'm very much a novice when dealing with wheels, so I have to do more research into whether these will fit the car.

What does everyone think about these wheels on this car? I believe I can source 17" wheels from the same design, but I wanted to go large sidewall for the winter months.

Remember that you asked. They look like man hole covers. But, I'm also from the school that says you're the only one you have to please.

Trust me, I'm no stranger to criticism! I welcome honest opinion.

It's one of my favorite wheel designs because it looks so stellar on the Delta, but I wanted to toy around with it on a modern car.

With the right mods it could work nicely.

my concerns would be brake clearance on those 15's, offset and bolt pattern (if it's not 5x100 it will need to be redrilled)

if you can just get a replica wheel in 5x100 with the offset somewhere in the 30 to 40 range and in 16" it would be cool

Yeah, the PD is 5x98. Probably won't work. I have access to a machine shop, but I wouldn't trust a wheel with obround bolt holes.

These Compomotive wheels might be a good fit for the look, but being Compomotives I'm sure it means big $$. I sent an inquiry to see how much their 16x7 wheels are per set with shipping to the US.

Are there any other classic motorsport wheels that might pair unusually well with the BRZ?

only problem with those is that the size he has is the only one offered in 5x100 and the front just pokes too much with that setup imo

edit: pretty sure Watanabe have wheels that fit this car also

Yes, I was looking at that thread when I was scrounging for 16" wheels on the BRZ. I also found another good one that has the same wheel size and offset as the Compomotive for winter use...

The Compomotive 16x7 wheels I found can be ordered with a 40mm offset and a 5x100PD, so I think they will work well.

I looked at Watanabe's pricing, and they're about 2x the Compomotive. :eyebulge: I did like their wheels though, and they might fit really well with the twins. The pricing on the Compomotive was about $245/wheel + $245 intl. shipping, so it's already breaking the bank compared to the Tire Rack steelies. They do include the lug nuts though, at least!

Steelies and WS-70, mounted and balanced from Tire Rack, would be under $1000 shipped.

Expensive, but I'm definitely toying with this idea. My winter tires are on my current car nearly 5 months of the year - I wouldn't mind liking the way my car looks for those 5 months.

How about a set of Enkei RC-G4? A good looking rally wheel that I think would look right at home (as much as 15s could) on a brz.

I just got off the phone with Tire Rack - they said they aren't comfortable selling the RC-G4 to me for my BRZ due to the undersizing. They recommend a 16" wheel, which the RC-G4 isn't available in :(

They do look fantastic though.
