Has anyone looked into fitting LED door handle lights?
 

For some reason I really like the little white LEDs that BMW puts in their door handles-- the ones that light up along with the cabin lighting when you unlock the car. I dug up the electrical wiring diagrams for the BRZ that are posted on this site and noticed only two sets of wires running into the door handles: one for the key antenna and one for the power locks.

Anyone have any idea how difficult it would be to add an LED to the handles? Bonus points if you could figure out how to get them to fade on and off properly :3

Obviously very old thread, but this idea popped into my head just now and search brought me here... Anyone got some ideas on this? could it be as "simple" as running a wire up to the handle tied into the dome light? The dome light comes on with proximity as well as the unlock button. How cool would it be to walk up and have em come on?!

Brzs have courtesy lights stock in the doors correct? Do these come on only when the door opens or when you unlock it like the dome?

If they come on like the dome it would be easy to add it to handle but you'll have to have a body shop drill a hole and add an led.

If it doesn't come on you could still wide it to the dome light like frs guys do for courtesy lights.

If you wire it to the dome light, whenever you turn on your done to find something ins die, it'll light up on the exterior too. I wired some led strips where to footwell is to my dome lights and turn on whenever I flip the switch too

I wired the red to the ignition and are on whenever the key is in, and the white to my dome light which is linked to my door when I open and close them

I'll be doing this to my frs within the next month.. Been searching for the best led bulb to fit on the frs handle. Did this to all four doors on my nissan frontier few years ago..turns on when I unlock the doors
