Height question for mt owners. At people can chime in too
So I'm not tall but not short I'm about 6 ft and I was wondering if anyone has found a trick with seat positioning so that you can strike the clutch straight on. I find myself having to angle my left leg pretty hard even with the steering wheel up all the way and a ton of different seat positions. Is this fairly normal for a smaller sports car? Or have I yet to find the perfect position?

At 6'1" I haven't had the issue you're experiencing. I have my seat 1 click forward from all the way back and pumped all the way down. The back rest is one click back from vertical and I can hit the pedal just fine.

I find dress shoes with square heels to be of discomfort Nikes, no issue try and see how you 'roll your heel' with the shoes you wear it will make the femur angle more relaxed. I've also lowered the left pedal in both cars about 12mm or so |
I'm 6'2" and have my seat all the way back and totally upright and don't have to angle my left foot all. Sometimes I angle my right foot will cruising down the highway so that my knee is more relaxed, but I don't have any clutch pedal issues at all.

I am a less than a quarter inch short of 6' and am two stops from the furthest back stop on the seat. I sit pretty low with a couple of clicks of lean on the seat back and have not had that issue. My foot sits flat on the rest pedal with a slight bend at the knee and hits the clutch perfect for me.

haha I'm 5'5" and I've never had this problem... I sit with the seat as low as it goes, but (obviously) pretty close to the pedals.

I'm 5'10. My seat is forward enough that I do not have to stretch my left leg. I drive pretty much "laid back" as my back rest is tilted back, wheel pulled out and as low as it will go. It did take me a while to finally get the combination right.
Reading our forum I think the mistake I read that's most common are drivers who have their seat backs too much in the upright position. I suggest to them to move their seat up a notch and lean the seat back further to the rear and adjust the wheel accordingly. |
6'1 and I sit further forward and upright (3-4 clicks from the back probably), and I don't have any issue. My knee comes close but doesn't touch the wheel. I did sit back at 1 click from the back for a while but found it to be more comfortable further forward. I would say make sure that your seat is pumped all the way down.

ok, ok, ok. Being 6 foot as well, there is a difference between my bro (at 5"10') and I, as he can rarely fit in my cars. This is true wether its an 83 Supra, FR-S, Focus hatch, or truck. So, what's the deal? Answer, he's very big. Although his stature is less than mine, his girth 'pushes' his legs into the wheels of most smaller cars.
So, height isn't the real issue, size may be. OP, like stated above, is your driver's seat adjusted all the way DOWN (yes, up and down adjustment, not sliding back and forth, or tilting forward or back)? Eric G |
Another question for people over 6'. Do you find it difficult to heel and toe given the position of your legs? The problem is that my right leg is bent to the right and getting my foot in the heel and toe position (toes to the left, heel to the right) is awkward at best.

I'm 6'5" 255lbs and the car fits me like a glove.
Its one of the few sports cars out there that will fit a guy of my size. I will be getting the knee pad, just for comfort, but overall my driving position in the car is near perfect. I have the seat all the way back and lowered down with the steering wheel all the way to me. I may have a different style of how i have my feet on my pedals, but the only time I felt taxed while driving was on a 6 hour sprint to Seattle and back. I think it was my clutch action that wore me out more than the fit. Outside of a 911, this car fits me better than any sports car i have sat in. I'm about to start putting up my FR-S build photo stream and I will try to remember to add some pics of me sitting in it for you other big guys out there that are considering one of the twins. The sides of the driver's cockpit are setup really well for my legs laying up against them and therefore, I'm very comfortable even on longer drives. I'm sure it will be even nicer with the pad. |
