Gutting primary cat?

Has anyone gutted the primary cat in the stock exhaust manifold (header)? I remember doing this on my old 92 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo, but didn't know if this was a bad idea on such a new vehicle.

you only gain 1-2 hp from gutting the cat. Its not worth the hassle.

Not entirely accurate. Contradicted by looking at other posts especially gutted when tuned (even if it's OFT).

Buy a used header and store stock header. Less hassle, more gains.

Fwiw perrin did a blog on this. Before and after untuned results. Untuned with cat vs tuned no cat is not a valid comparison. The tune obscures things
