If you plan on getting a header in the future, I would add it. It will be cheaper to do it now in the long run than to have to try and add it later. It is also a fairly inexpensive addition at $65.

Got your PM.

Our lead time right now is right around 3-4 weeks for fabrication, seeing as we build almost every single part to order here in our tiny shop in La Center, WA.

The helmholtz resonator has no impact on the lead time, however.

Hey, thanks again about adding the resonator onto my downpipe today. Hope I didn't cause too many issues.

No problem, we caught it at the perfect time

pumped to get my fp/dp combo. gonna put it on with the revworks header sitting here. have to wait till the snow clears though....

We are speaking about ours specifically, because we go for thicker piping and different design ours is meant for manual transmission, we designed it originally on a manual transmission first and did not produce an automatic transmission one. Not quoting all helmholtz designs in general just to clarify.

Interesting.

We had no problems designing one that fit both an Automatic and Manual transmission.

The Helmholtz resonator is specifically designed to target a drone frequency that we experienced with a header installed. A big contributor to rasp in the exhaust is removing the cats from the system, and has little/nothing to do with the Helmholtz resonator.

All of our initial testing was done with no tuning applied to the parts. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I am happy to hear that the car drives well now. It would be interesting to see datalogs/dyno graphs of the car with the tune and without the tune.

Why is the catted Nameless DP listed as "OFF-ROAD only"?

StormTrooper 12-17-2013 03:46 AM

Because our communist overlords have deemed it illegal to tamper with any emissions equipment on automobiles.

So barring a failure you can't "legally" remove or replace cats.

shaunsweeney 12-28-2013 09:09 PM

Would the catless op/dp with the helmholtz be raspy? I don't mind a little volume but cannot deal with the pissed off bumblebee sound.

As far as emissions are concerned...screw the overlords.

I have an equal length header, a nonresonated/non catted front pipe, an overpipe, and a q300 catback. Since I went forced induction my car obviously became really loud. I'm trying to quiet the car down. I don't really have any rasp, but it's too loud. Without doing a catalytic converter would your Helmholtz resonater quiet the car down?
