Calling all winter layup drivers

Maybe I am getting too far ahead of the time of when I expect to get the "2.0 litre DOHC aluminum-alloy 16 valve 4-cylinder horizontally opposed SUBARU BOXER engine with Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS)"* breathing and exploding gas fumes again or maybe it is just that 'Indian summer' some talk about but, darn, I am getting psyched. My target date is 0600 31 March 2013, 26 days. I WILL survive.

BTW: All you salty snow slushing, winter-stormed drivers or SoCal-type sun-drenched, ocean-breezed, and down-under** assholes*** need not respond.

* 2012 Subaru of America, Inc.
** Australia, New Zealand, etc.
*** No offense intended mate.

I thought Indian Summer was warm weather after the first frost. Doesn't that apply to before winter, not after?

In any case, right there with ya, brother! Hopefully my BRZ comes at the end of this month. If not, I'll take the MR2 out of storage and have some fun :)

You are right. Just shows how fuzzed-up my mind gets in the wintertime.

Mines been in layup since thanksgiving... but I have managed to start it about every 2 weeks.. supposed to break it out this weekend.. I wasn't expecting snow but thats what I am up against.. luckily I have snows on my other Subaru that will work so I can get the car ready to drive to Ga for an event in 2 weeks...Lots to do.. should be ok.. I am going to hate driving it in the salt crap.. but I have to and will make sure its washed thoroughly... every chance I get.. C'mon Spring..:)

I'm targeting the weekend of the 23rd to get it out of storage. Even then I'll only drive it on nice days and will drive my other car if there is any threat of wintery precipitation.

I'm super excited.. have lots of mods to install!!!

All day...every day.

i was drifting in 3rd or 4th gear going in a straight line doing 10 miles an hour in like 3 or 4 inches of snow, lol because snow tires

Haven't driven mine since I washed it, pulled it into the garage, and put the car cover on in the middle of November. I'm taking my family to Florida for spring break at the end of the month, so my target date is when we get back from vacation, which will be the 2nd week of April. The wait is killing me, but I've seen what salty Ohio winter roads have done to our other Subaru, no way I'm letting that happen to my BRZ.

Chimpo 03-07-2013 08:48 AM

Mine has been parked since Nov as well, but that wasn't the original plan. I tried to sell my '11 CR-Z but (surprise) nobody wants it... even when it's significantly cheaper (dump it) than any of the others available.

Decided that the amount of loss I would take getting rid of the CR-Z was the same as making the payments on it for the next several months, plus I already have snow tires, so I've been driving it through the winter.

So, anyone want a CR-Z?

I was dying to get my hands on my Premium, and when it finally came in, I braved the nasty roads with all the sand and salt to pick her up. I hid the car away in the garage until I could get my clear bra and mud flaps on, but now I'm driving the hell out of her. Damn, it feels sooo good... :)
