If your personalized plate request gets denied by the MTO, do you get your money back?

When applying online, they ask for your credit card information, I dont know if they charge you right away or when it gets approved. My concern is that if it gets denied, they wont refund your money, instead make you choose another plate number.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I believe they make you give a couple choices, and if all are denied they don't charge you. You can also do this in person at a service ontario place and they'll tell you for sure.

I applied for my personalized plate online on the MTO site and got my plates 2 weeks later. On the MTO site you can enter your choice and the system will tell you right away if that name is available. As long as the system says it's available, there's a very high chance that it's going to be approved unless you write in the "explain the meaning" box that it's a bad word. lol of course you won't do that.

Hmmm I wonder how many people get away with inappropriate stuff in foreign languages.

like the sound toad makes in mario kart when he gets a gold mushroom and you just mash the boost button.... ya ya yaahooo.. ya.. yaahoo!!


yea, thats what ill do.

you use to be able to pretty much get whatever you want. starting 2 years ago they had a committee formed to oversee all of the applications. They will give you money back if they deny it.

Its not a bad word or insulting that I want to put on the plate.

Its just something that the MTO may deny due to the fact that it may indirectly relate to speed (although I'm going to put the meaning as some other fabricated reason that seems legitimate)

We'll see what happens!

Minor point to consider....

...maximum 8 characters without a graphic or 6 characters with.

A friends parents were denied the plates they wanted because someone at the MTO felt it had something to do with drinking. In reality the plates were DRKN___ for Dirk and ___.
