Dash cam for an accident?
I was recently involved in an accident (another car) and it got me thinking to install dash cams in all my vehicles. My insurance agent told me that it is useless as dash cams cannot be used as evidence in an accident (ie to determine who's green it was or whos fault in general).. Is this true? I found it odd that even the police will not take it down as evidence to ensure it was not tampered with.

yea if someone blows a light and tbones you and you have it on camera that you had the green light, that'll definitely help you in court when they try to say that it was your fault. I was thinking about getting 2, one for the front and one in the back as i have been rear ended at red lights multiple times in my old cars and even had some old guy do it and then look at me and drive away like nothing happened.

I just couldn't believe someone would say it couldn't help your case. Cops use their dash cams to prove things in court, so why couldn't you? It makes you wonder if your insurance guy is telling you this crap, then what else is he fucking up?

insurance agents are retarded. I'm 24 and this is the first car that i own in my name on my own policy and i was paying $169 a month on my old tc on my parents policy. I called up to get a quote on the frs and they told me $320 a month which i believed at first and was willing to just accept it and pay it. I go to the dealer, do the paperwork and call them up and they're like we never gave you a quote. I had them redo it and they're like ok so it's gonna come to $179 a month. I had them repeat everything to me and it was identical coverage to what they told me was going to be $320 a few days before. Point of the story... insurance agents usually aren't any better than the dealer. They just make stuff up and make it seem like they know what they're doing

Cyclists use it to prove hit and runs, why couldn't you? Just remember to keep your cool too, because you are on camera as well.
