The most common problem we've seen is that you haven't got the top nut on the shock fully tightened. If it's loose, the top of the stock will rattle around relative to the top mount.

I haven't trimmed my bumpstop yet. Mach V recommends that users trim the OEM bumpstop by 1 inch. Could this be the problem?

No. If you don't trim it, you're just going to run into the stop sooner, effectively limiting travel. But there won't be any clunking in either case.

I don't want to trim the bumpstop since I may have to return to the stock springs.

At that point you could just buy new ones from the dealer, or from us. They only cost a few bucks.

This is how front spring sits with the wheel on the ground. Should the fact that the top coils touch raise any concerns?

No. They are designed that way, so the spring remains in tension under suspension droop.
Get the car up in the air and wiggle around the strut, sway bars, and other moving parts of the suspension. My guess is that something is loose that should be snug and tight.
