2AZ FR-S?

I saw this on ScionRacing on Instagram. Then did a search, found these on FB. They'll be using it for formula drifting.

Just curious why won't they just use the FA20? No saying the 2AZ is a bad motor.

this is not a real swap...

while he was changing is motor, pat cyr had that engine sleeping in his garage and just put it down in the engine bay to take a pic...

it dosen't fit so easily

2j?

Its Tony Angelo's FR-S. He drove Ken Gushi's old tC last year but wrecked it at the end of the season. Its the engine out of that car.

The 2AZ is Toyota's bread and butter engine.... used in everything from Corolla/Matrix to I think Highlanders (?).... it's also in the TC and xB....

it's not exactly the first engine I would think of using as a swap.... and from the Corollas and Camrys I've driven with this motor, I can't say that it's a torque monster either.....

I had an '07 tC with a dezod s1 turbo kit on it. These engines can handle abuse real well and produce mega torque to hp ratios (equal or greater hp and tq).

Its a 2.4L, has tons of parts already for it, and has been used and abused already.

My old tC didnt wanna die, shit never quit

Thats not really a great thing. HP is just Tq multiplied by revs divided by a constant, which for your imperial measurements is around 5500. This means that at roughly 5500rpm the HP and Tq lines should intersect. Therefore it must have a very peaking torque curve that drops off before 5.5k rpm. If thats what you like you could always swap a diesel into your FRS :barf:

I think the boxer turbo diesel Subaru was toying with would be cool. Loads of torque and good fuel economy

I personally have never driven a diesel i liked but the Subie one would be an interesting swap. I'd definitely follow a transplant thread like that with interest.

I've never owned one but have driven a couple. The VW TDi only has about 150 hp but it has over 250 ft/lbs of torque, needless to say it is very peppy down low. The Subaru one is roughly the same, maybe more torque, and all at 1800 rpms, and it gets 40+ mpg.
