Rear diffuser care

I've been thinking about how to maintain the rear diffuser and decided to try some Aerospace 303 to see what the result would be. It seems to actually give the black plastic a bit more depth and "blackness".

Any chance you can get a bigger picture? Can't really see it

He is talking about the black diffuser. That is stock. I use a spray that I also use to clean my interior.

Ok

Burrcold 03-03-2013 08:15 PM

Looks nice and clean. Mine is almost white right now, from all the road shit on it.

Wes 03-03-2013 09:24 PM

I use Mothers Back to black, that seems to work as well, doesn't make it super shiny black, but it keeps it looking oem and has a little shine.

I use the Adams Super V.R.T shine or their In & out spray

Use these on customers cars with great results!

Each of these also don't leave that greasy finish and don't attract dirt. The super v.r.t is water based.

Looks wonderful! I haven't thought about using the rubber stuff on the diffuser as it gets too dirty. I will definitely try in the summer.

tuckdaddy 03-04-2013 01:12 AM

It works good and it creates a layer keeping things from clinging to the plastic so washing and cleaning is much easier

Clembo 03-24-2013 06:47 AM

Yes for 303!

Old-school product I love. Use it on all my cars and have for years. Works great on interior, leather seats and also on tires. Keeps things looking 'new', not overdone. I buy it by the gallon at the boating supply store - always goes on sale at the beginning of the boating season here.

Plastic

I use 303 on mine, and the area where the windshield wipers are, and side-mirror black plastic. It's got electrolytes, which plastics crave.

I use the Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber care for all the black plastic exterior parts and my interior. Works pretty well, doesn't give too high of a gloss and the best part is that no residue is really left on anything. Smooth and dry to touch after application and holds up for a quite a bit.

Haha Idiocracy what a great movie, good ole Brawndo.

On topic, I use 303 aerospace and the stuff is amazing especially when the heat of the Florida summer hits, the UV protectant helps.

get this stuff Mothers Back-to-Black. Makes the black exterior trim pieces look super good.

In my experience the Adams SVRT lasted longer. Much cheaper for mother stuff though just have to use a hell of a lot more product.

+1 for Mothers Back-to-Black. It works great, and it was the only product that managed to get the ugly oxidation off my mirror plastic trim. People have been telling me to use white vinegar but that made no difference. You can get it for less then $7 on Amazon.

While we're on the subject, anybody know how to fix scratches on the diffuser? I have no idea how it got scratched. I know the diffuser is fixed into the bumper so no use replacing it. Attachment 32487

Chad86 07-01-2014 06:54 PM

So it seems the better product is Adams?

Back to Black leaves it greasy and attracts dirt. It's also damaging long term.

303 on the other hand is not and is recommended by man boat manufacturers to protect the vinyl upholstery and tops on boats. It's also well known and used for the vinyl tops on Miatas.

You can try some heat, but I doubt it will do much as the bumpers are usually urethane which is not a thermoplastic.

I got mine on sale at Cabela's a few years ago. Best everyday price I've found is amazon.

CruiseZen 07-02-2014 09:36 AM
