Is there a way to turn on climate control without the AC being on?

I couldn't find in the manual explaining this nor on other posts.

I have a limited BRZ with auto climate control. I find that everytime i turn on the climate control, the AC is automatically turned on. I do not have Auto set to on. I do not have AC set to on. I do not have front defogger turned to on. Even when i set the direction of the air to blow at my feet and set the AC off. The next time I turn on the car and turn on climate control the AC turns back on again. How can i have AC not turn on everytime?

EXACTLY!

One cannot have "climate control" without both heating AND cooling. Anything different defeats the logic. Or, maybe, just turn it off - although I do not know for sure this can be done since I didn't get a Limited with all the 'robotic' controlling..

Just turn it off.
If it says 'auto' it's on, adjust the fan speed and it turns off as you over ride it.
It will be off when you start next time. Don't forget to press the switch to cancel recirculate.

my auto is not on. I made sure everything is turned off. Then next time i drive the car when i turn on to get hot air (turn on by rotate the center dial) then the AC automatically turns on.

I'll check mine now.

The centre dial adjusts the fan speed and where the air goes. It can only turn the auto off on mine, to turn the auto on I have to press the auto button next to it.
I can run everything manually or on auto, the only glitch in the system is that auto doesn't let you decide where the air goes using the centre dial. Perhaps that is on auto sensors too?
If you turn the temp to max it will be heat full on.

What vent setting do you have it on? Is it one that defogs the front windshield? If so, it will turn on the AC.

i Have the air blowing my feet only.

You have the duel system right? On mine, I hit auto and then turn the AC off but don't touch anything else but the temp setting. AC light stays off, even when I start the car the next day.

I don't think there's a way to do it. I always turn off the A/C after turning on the climate control when driving around town so my car has some extra pep it in its step.

Are you sure the A/C being on is actually doing anything? I was under the impression that the compressor does not kick on unless the cabin temp is higher than what the unit is set to. Otherwise it just acts as a dehumidifier.

Huehuecoyotl 03-03-2013 10:56 PM

it dehumidifies using the compressor, so ac is on

no i'm not sure if it's doing anything, but the fact that the little green light is on for the AC bothers me.
