Stop Tech Sport Kit
Thinking about getting the full Stoptech Sport Kit for my FRS, but haven't heard any reviews or thoughts about them. Initially, I was just going to change my pads for now, upgrade the lines later, and eventually the rotors, but I found today that at least one of my rotors developed some scoring.
So the question is, what do people think about this kit? $550 (ish) for rotors, pads, and stainless steel brake lines all the way around seems like a good price. Do they work well? Any complaints? My intent is to continue using the car as a daily driver, but I want to take it to the track once every couple of months or so (as money allows). I also eventually intend to add some type of charger (leaning towards Innovate's twin screw, as long as they dont develop issue in the heat as I am in Florida) but that is in the future (likely at least a year away). Advice? |
Good question to ask, I was wondering this myself...

OEM rotors should be fine for your needs. I'd save the money and just go with pads, lines, and fluid.

Stock rotors are fine for the track. I beat the crap outta mine with hawk hp+ pads at Laguna seca lots of hard late braking 100+ into turn 2 held up fine. Cross drilled crack and have less surface area they were designed to help allow gas escape from hot pads but that's over kill with modern brake pads , slotted give more bite (if that's what you're looking for) and help clean the pad to prevent glazing but have less surface area heat up and wear pads quicker. If you aren't planning on tracking frequently and arent seeking any of the afformentioned benifits I wouldn't bother.

Any rotor will crack with enough repeated heat cycles.

And...lets get back on track. Rotors with scoring likely need replacing before going to the track. Reviews/comments on the Stoptech Sport Kit. K? Thx :)

I personally would just upgrade the pads, lines and fluid. I have never used stoptech products so i can't comment on their quality. I would say get some Ferodo DS2500 front and rear pads with some Motul fluid and SS lines. Those Ferodo pads are great DD pads that can handle a lot of abuse. I think this is a better use of your money.

How bad is the scoring? You can probably get them resurfaced
