Edge Motorworks BRZ Autocross Build, March 3rd Mountain View!
Hello everyone, my name is Mark Scroggs, I will be co-driving the Edge Motorworks Subaru BRZ in SCCA autocross competition this year in the ultra-competitive STX class. We are planning a get-together at our Mountain View location this Sunday from about 10AM-2PM, come hang out as we transform the brand-new bone-stock car into a cone-carving machine by installing the suspension, wheels & tires, & various other competition parts.
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps19b552c0.jpg This is planned to be an easy going get-together where BRZ/FRS enthusiasts can hang out & share car related stories while the Edge crew works on the car. Hot coffee & donuts will be provided starting at 10AM, everyone is welcome to stop by! Find the Facebook link here, otherwise the new Edge facilities are located at... 2235 Old Middlefield Way, Suite A Mountain View, Ca. 94043 (Between Independence and Rengstorf) We hope to see some BRZ/FRS enthusiasts there, especially if you have competition aspirations!! |
Hey you guys finally got the car.
Were you the one i met at sonoma raceway during the nasa trackday? I was talking someone from edge motorsports and he was looking all over my black car to see what can be done to it and potential upgrades and mods |
Looks a lot like the parts I started my STX build with!
Are the PRF1s et45? What size tire? 245? 255? |
Nice choice of wheels. :)

The 200 treadware on the ZIIs scares my a little for STX going against a bunch of 140 tires, but I'm very interested to see how they do! |

Car looks awesome! Gotta love a red car with black wheels! :party0030: |
Count me in see you guys Sunday around noon!
|
You lucky guys... no shops around Florida seem to be enthusiastic about autocross. It's just a secondary function around here, can't even get any shops out to an SCCA event
|
I'll be there...
|
Kool See you guys there ! Doughnuts and coffee oh yea ! thanks race2win !
|
Thanks @Rollan for letting me know about this ^_^ wouldnt have noticed. hehe. Ill be there too ! :D
See u guys tmr |
just got back from edge today, good to meet Gordon, Tony and the rest of the gang. Had my alignment done and am very satisfied with the work, these guys are great and you know they love what they do
|
So tempting. The key is can I motivate and get to Mountain View by 10am even though I am a lazy slob... hmm
Update: I'm going for it! :D |
And another joins the STX fray... Gonna be a lot of fireworks in Nebraska in Sept!
You guys did it the right way--parts waiting on car, instead of vice-versa. |

I had the pleasure of meeting Gordon, Sarah, Tony and Adam of Edge Motorworks yesterday at their brand new Mountain View facility. While other shops are the typical parts retail store, these guys are truly passionate about racing. Infact, every employee must be a driver in Autocross, SCCA, NASA, Time Attack, etc to be considered for employment at Edge.
Tony is one of their main techs and holds numerous class track records. Sarah also drives extensively sharing the same E30/36 purpose build track car with Tony. Gordon is the brains and the owner of the business and it was an absolute pleasure talking about motorsports and possibilities of the BRZ/FRS chassis. Their background are BMW and Mini racing and they perform all chassis tuning for any car. They also perform 30/60/90k maintenance services for the BMW and Mini community. They have 2 facilities now with their original shop in Dublin. Look for big things to follow from Gordon and the team at Edge Motorworks! |

Extra special thanks to Edge Motorworks for hosting this great meet! Had a great time talking cars and seeing the Edge BRZ autocross racer take shape. God DAMN those black RPF-01s look good on a red car!
Enjoyed meeting everyone and looking forward to coming out to future meets. It's obvious we have a very passionate and friendly group of FR-S/BRZ owners here in Northern California! |
Ah, you are indeed the same Edge Motorworks I visited with my BMW way back when. Cool to see another good shop involved in the 86 scene! I'll have to check out the new Mountain View shop sometime.

Terrific BRZ-FRS turnout today -- must have been 8-10 twins there.
Mark Scroggs not only won a super-competitive STX class in the Edge Motorworks BRZ, he also came within an eyelash of top PAX overall. A pretty amazing performance for a car with no power mods and zero shakedown runs. ... A lot of very intelligent guesswork on the initial settings. Gordon, thanks for letting me take a run! Fun to watch, and it'll only get better. Results: http://www.sfr-solo.org/solo2/Result...lists.html#pax |
Great job to Gordon and the Edge Motorworks BRZ !!!
|
+1 to Gordon, Mark, and the Edge crew. Great job.
Can't wait till their Dublin branch starts work on the twins too. Maybe their next addition to their BRZ can be done in Dublin :) :) Shell out enough $$ to stand against the black M3 from light to light :) haha lol j/k lol. I said "sure" until I saw the badge on the side and thought darn, one of those moments I wish I was driving the truck lol |
Thanks Des & everyone else for the kind words & support!! It was a fabulous debut for the car & we are very excited at how competitive it is right out of the box! Click here for the details on how the day went, here is a picture of the Edge machine in action...
http://i838.photobucket.com/albums/z...psf26b19e0.jpg Come on out this weekend to Marina for the Amercian Autocross Series! We will be there both days competiting, as well as testing suspension set-ups to get ready for our first National race in April. We plan to set-up an area in the paddock so that all the FR-S & BRZ drivers that come down can pit next to us. Even if you don't want to compete, come on down & hang out to see how a top level autocross is run, we would be happy to give ride-alongs as well! Hope to see some of you there!! |
