Ecu and displays/gauges

From what I've been told the ecu monitors everything from oil pressure, oil temperature, air/fuel, water temp, and tons of other things. If it knows all this stuff isn't there a wire adapter that's plug and play that will plug into the ecu to allow a daisy chain to a monitoring device (or using obdii port) like a gauge or perhaps a android stereo? I'm seeing gauges for sale that cost a small fortune and require sensors to be installed and wired to the oil line for example, but if the Ecu knows all of that already can't we just get something to talk to the Ecu to display stuff instead?

I'm a total nOOb when it comes to gauges and displaying ecu stuff from a car.

Much of this data can be accessed through the OBDII port. There are adaptors available that will let you read and display the data with Android or iOS devices, as well as stand alone readers like Scangauge.

To read some of this info (oil temp) you need to know the right codes (PIDs).

Here's my current setup using a Scangauge II.

DashHawk or somehting of the sort would be nice....I wish Cobb would support the FA20 platform w/ the AP.

Aeroforce has the Interceptor CNE that displays quite a few key data bits, and last I heard the gauge matches the BRZ's stock gauge faces...

You need to program it using the xgauge feature. Some of our fellow forum members figured it out. Scangauge has even added it to their website in the xgauge section.
