Reverse light relocation

Did a quick search with no results.

Has anyone relocated their reverse lights to the tail lights? and or deleted the lower bumper/diffuser light setup?

I ask because if in the future i modify the rear to include a diffuser or body kit i would still like my reverse lights visible.

I haven't seen it but it seems easier to do than the 4th brake light mod.

Swap the 7440 sockets for the turn signals out for 7443 sockets. Attach the reverse light positive to the dominant wire, the turn positive to the weaker positive, and the ground to ground. Use switchback led bulbs...done.

I like this idea. This just might be my spring break project.

haha its on my TO DO list.

The hardest part might be finding the right socket. I think they all have the same physical layout and size though. I'll check tonight.

Crap, I forgot to check.

Manufacturers of these body kits or diffusers take that into consideration when drafting up ideas for their products. It would be pretty shitty if they just blocked your reverse lights and said: deal with it.

Of course you knew that though... so are you fabbing up your own stuff? I'm just curious.

What? There shouldn't be any fabbing required. And what exactly do manufacturers take into consideration?

see the connection yet? I didn't mean fabbing was a requirement to relocate, but rather a reason to want to. Professional manufacturers of body kits and diffusers would take into consideration of your reverse lights, rather than blocking them or deleting them and telling you to deal with it on your own.

Here is an example of someone fabbing up their own stuff to warrant a need for relocated reverse lights.

This is the only body kit i've seen the relocated the reverse light right next to the tail lights.

Ah I see. I wasn't thinking as far as you were.

I forgot to check again. I'm going to have to set an alarm...

So has anyone taken the connector from the front signals and used them in the rears with switch backs yet?

....I just want more bright!

I can't sleep because I keep thinking about this. What about swapping the connectors for the front signals and the rears via depinning. Then, you run the power/signal wires from the reverse lights to the newly swapped connector at the tailight housing. Finally, install switchbacks and viola! You have reverse lights in a much better location!
