looking to drop my car
 

So, Im looking to lower my BRZ. What kind of coilovers would you recommend and how much drop would you guys suggest?
Also, what is the estimated cost?

jk jk coils range in price depending what u r going to do with them. if u just want to slam the car then buy bc's they go super low.
however if u plan to actually track the car this will require some research on your behalf. price in coils goes from ~700-3k+

i don't want to just drop the car. i want my car to be still be well balanced and efficient. I was thinking of the KW V3 coilovers, but they're pricy =/

i don't want it so low that it scrapes the car everytime i drive, but low enough to look slick. i don't want it like full track racing but not too basic street. maybe little more to the racing type by 70%ish?

I would lean towards either of the following;

Street system (Almost no track time)

Buy the best that you can afford. With suspensions, you really get what you pay for. GC makes some really great all around kits. They do their research and develop accordingly. I have a GC setup on one of my other cars and happy with the results.

I currently have KW V3 on my BRZ and this is also a great setup. A bit more pricey than the GC stuff, but just as streetable with the additional ability to adjust compression rate. You can adjust to make it soft for daily use, or rock solid for track days.

You won't go wrong with either of these in my opinion. Buy quality. Not all coilovers are the same.

Tien Street Basis ~800
*cheapest, JDM, Lowers car to approriate height. 1 year warrenty.
When the struts blow out you have to send them back to Japan to get serviced. Which would be more beneficial to buy a new one. No Camber plates
*could buy more mods with an extra 600 bucks

Fortune auto 500 ~1200
American company, good reviews, come with camber plates.
- So my cousin which is local to FA500 company (virginia) says there product is korean made and i will regret buying these coilovers.
-FA500 might be the same build quality as stance? But i dont think anyone would think stance is top notch suspension.
-5 year warrenty- will cost a lot less to service the shocks when they go out.

Ground Control street kit ~1350
-Great quality and great history of performance.
-No Camber plates
-adjustable springs
-life time warrenty.
-Cost twice as much

I plan on keeping my car a long time, so i dont want to buy tiens because i will eventually have to repair them/ buy a new one from japan (6weeks ETA)
I am really torned between FA500 and the Ground Controls. I want the adjustability that FA500 offers, but i think the Ground control is the best product out of the three under 1500.

I think it is also more attractive then the Tien Flexes as well, mainly looking at a warrenty and customer service viewpoint.

My mind is saying to buy the Ground control complete kit with camber plates ~$1800 but my wallet doesnt agree with me.

For a street car you really don't need camber plates. They generally ride much harsher than their stock counterpart. I know GC makes a hybrid, but not sure if adapted to work with our chassis yet. You can adjust camber with the Subaru crash bolt if additional adjustment is needed.

Give the guys at GC a call. I know that would help sway your decision.
