I already (or will have) a supply channel to the UK :D (host group buys) etc.. |
If I had to buy one of the above as is, I would go with the BRZ's aesthetics. I love that spoiler, the side vents look great (I could go without the 86 logo, don't shoot me), and that plasma blue is a color to die for. I'll probably get the FR-S regardless, since most of the parts will be available for both models but it's a close call!

Ultramarine for Scion could very well be Galaxy Blue from Subaru. Hard to tell at this point. |

BRZ guys want the FR-S/GT86 front bumper....lol. I reckon it all just depends. I won't be like a must-have item for me. I just think the GT86's headlight led's look stupid so I like the FR-S headlights over it's JDM sibling. |
Thanks Moto! :happy0180:

I'm either or and w/out LED's it looks ol skool and probably easier to do the black headlight mod. |
I just like the color options, front bumper and 86 side logos too much on the Scion to go for the BRZ. I even like the tach of the FR-S better too. The BRZ looks too tame and is trying for an upscale feel on the exterior, that I feel doesn't match the soul of the car.
I'd like to see if the BRZ has more sound deadening, or higher quality materials, but other than trim/I'd doubt it. At the very least I'm going to do an HID retrofit or buy the BRZ lights, or import some euro GT86 ones. |

definately doing a headlight swap on the FR-S
i prefer the look of the BRZ headlights more than those on the FR-S |

The BRZ has the LED strip inside the headlight housing AND the LED strip foglights too. The FR-S's looks like the ones on the ISF.

am I the only one that like a badgeless car? I want the BRZ vent plate ( even though I like the 86 logo I really don't want anything there. Hi spec headlights\fog lights and the TRD kit and I'm golden.

i however dont expect you to know what im talking about on any level. basically it alol stemed from people hoping and wishing that the cars will be different, and others doing a reality check when it comes to a affordable shared platform car, what will be same what will be different. interiors arent different that much btw. different stitching is not counted as different.. when you say different parts you should be refering to completly different shaped parts, as in different injection moulds were used, not slighlty different colour, or this one has a 2din cd while this one has 1din cd + gauges.. thats all within the same space and dimesions and uses same overall parts ;) and for the record, this isnt "close" to badge engineering, this is the epitome of it |
Has anybody seen pics of the BRZ with the running lights on? I don't believe I've seen any yet.

Who said Japan ;) |
So I spoke to my MD, he was lucky enough to test both the BRZ and GT-86 back to back in Japan last week.
His comments were the BRZ has a much better handling feel, even pushing it hard you can barely hear the tires. He said the BRZ has a better feel on corners than the 86. His words exactly "The BRZ has superior handling over the 86" |
I'm sure everyone here who wants the BRZ headlight swap realizes how much OEM headlights are going to cost.
Are that many of you willing to spend $700/$800 for these lights? Or is everyone gonna be searching on ebay and waiting for totalled brz's to show up? lol I'm not criticizing anyone, i may even be one of those people if i'm in a weird spending mood..lol The only way I can justify the cost is if i'm doing it to upgrade to OEM HID projectors (from a halogen fr-s)..but even then..if the projectors are subaru units, I could do alot better with a retro-fit |
I don't understand the love for the BRZ headlights.
Most people say they still love the MK-I concept, which had really pointy headlights. The FR-S is more pointy, the BRZ has more rounded headlights on the ends, the tips are longer. Hypocrites I say!! |

im worried about the nasty gap you might get. the brz headlights are shorter than the frs/86. you can see the added seal and extension on the brz front bumper, it wont be there on the frs.

I am not a fan of the "led strips" that Toyota is using and has used in the GT86 or in the Lexus vehicles I like the Subaru LED optic fiber myself |
led strips are already going out of style.
brz headlights is the direction the industry is moving - take a look at some of the newer bmw's, they look similar to this. not referring to the current angel eyes, but the laser lights. brz's may not be lasers, but they are still closer to that then paltry led strips. the only led's are going to be on things like the kia rio and soul and outdated is's amongst other cars that were too late to the party. |

LED bars are outdated? LOL. Tell me what new Audi or Mercedes doesn't have them? it is only the beginning of LED. Wait other 7 years for lasers.
|
The Frs front bumper looks better not all black plastic between the headlights but the Brz looks ok just not as good as the scion

Moto you are a great big + to tis forum IMHO (like others ;) )!
Thank you! |
I'm fairly sure that the halo-ish lights around the BRZ projector housings is EL Wire (electroluminescent wire). It's designed to work best with 12 volt electrical systems, and in my experience gives the same look as what these have.
