noob question

where the eff is the primary cat? is it part of the header?

Turdinator 02-28-2013 01:57 AM

Yes its part of the header. Befor the overpipe.

86_ZN6 02-28-2013 02:07 AM

oh no. i'm just concerned in terms of where it is so i know what to touch and not to touch for upgrading purposes. so it seems upgrading the header will eliminate the primary cat?

Well there are some headers appearing with cats now but if the header you like is uncatted you could get a midpipe with a hi flow cat instead.

test pipe is the "front pipe"

midpipe is the longest part just before the axle back

Oops, sorry. I meant front pipe.

This link talks about the exhaust sections.

I've got a noob question too about the exhaust.
I noticed that each additional part of the exhaust had slight WHP and tq increases on the dynos.
Cat back exhaust was 5-8whp
Frontpipe was 5-7whp and the overpipe was about 4whp
Does that mean if you get all three parts of the header back system you should get the summed total gains of 14-19whp or more likely will it be less then that

Would be interesting to see a dyno of the complete header back system vs stock.
I'm sure its somewhere
