Wait until June for delivery?

Looks like I'm going to be waiting until June for delivery of my BRZ. Has anyone else had to wait 3-4 months to get their car? Is this normal?

I ordered a Galaxy Blue Limited w/ an Automatic. Didn't expect it to be that hard to get.

Seems like ATs are pretty scarce. There are 15 or so BRZs in stock around me, 2 of which are Automatic. Add in the specific color/trim options and I'd say it's a possibility it may take that long.

Personally, at that point, I'd just hold off for a 2014.

The MY2014 cars likely won't hit dealer lots until September, at the earliest.

3-4 months is better than 8. I ordered a WRB Limited 6MT back in July, and it's going to finally be delivered mid-March.

Same experience here. I live in NC and there are zero BRZs in stock on any dealership lot in my area or the whole state. All are sold via pre-order. I went into my local dealer and put down a refundable deposit in early Feb for a WR Blue 6MT. Estimated ship date was June 2013. About 1.5 weeks later I discovered on another forum a dealership in Mass that was doing a "locate" program throughout the northeast for interested out of state buyers. I spoke with the salesman (who was excellent by the way) and he was able to locate and secure my exact car that same day. I flew up to Boston this past weekend, took delivery of the car and drove it home! According to him, allocation to the northeast was much higher than most other parts of the country. The other crazy thing, is that he was able to get me a price below sticker. After all was over, my out of pocket for the car/plane ticket was still less than the MSRP I was going to pay on my pre-order. Hard to beat that.

If you have any interest in the dealer specifics, PM me and I'm happy to share. It's tough to wait that long, and unfortunately it doesn't sound like the wait times will be getting any shorter anytime soon for a BRZ (seems like FR-S's are a little easier to come by).

Good luck!

Ah, didn't realize it would be that long.

It's weird seeing all these waiting threads, though. The dealer I purchased mine had 5 on the lot at the time. One week later, there was another to replace the one I took. Same in NJ, almost every dealer has some kind of on hand inventory.

Yep, the average wait here is about 6-8 months. Strong on the 8 month side of things.

If it is expected to arrive in June, it might come as a 2014MY. When I talked to my Distribution Office a few months ago, they expected some of our orders (arriving in June/July) to turn into 2014MY orders.

I'd be fine with a 2014! Wouldn't be the first year anymore but maybe some of the kinks would be worked out. My major concern is taxes. I'm selling my R53 Mini next month and have 180 days to replace it to claim it for sales tax purposes.

Damn. I wonder why the situation is so dramatically different? Sure, hi-pop East/West Coast dealers in NY, LA, FL, ect are bound to get more inventory than some in the mid-west, for instance, but to have 5 on one lot and get another directly after one is purchased, compared to having zero for 8 months seems really skewed.

Are these 6-8 month waits for exact vehicle choices? In other words are there at least some sitting on lots in VA and MO, just not specific color/trims?? It took me 7 dealers to find the color/options I wanted, and I got stuck with the stupid compass mirror and rear defuser, but I eventally settled. Is this the case with the majority of wiat listers or are there really zero BRZs sitting on lots down there?

The initial allotment of BRZ's from May-November of 2012CY was directly proportional to the amount of WRX/STi's that were sold previously. Meaning that areas like the Northeast that sell rediculous amounts of WRX/STi's are now inundated with BRZ's that they can't sell because they are currently buried in snow.

Areas like Florida that is a "new" market for Subaru are having to buy cars from the Northeast by the truckload to meet their demand.

It was a very skewed and incorrect plan of attack on Subaru's part.

I agree. I don't think I'm asking for to much. Galaxy Blue, Automatic, Limited. The dealer did have a Galaxy Blue w/ a manual on the lot but it sold not long after I placed my order. Current trend is the cars sell in 2-3 days after they're on the lot here in STL.

check cars.com every day. Found mine after 2 weeks. I got myself the GBS auto after 2 weeks of searching. Keep in mind, it might be out of state, but you'll find more options in regards to inventory.

Yes, the regional rep told us the wait time would be 3-6 months, and the longer wait time would come the later we waited to place orders. This is in New England where we actually get lots of BRZ's for no intelligent reason.
