hit a curb HARD, traction control and ABS light on now need help plz!

I swerved to miss something and it was hit the huge box, a car, or the curb, so i chose the curb.

it popped both tires and bent the front rim. luckily my FRS buddy had 2 spare brand new FRS rims so i slapped them on there. of course the TPMS sensor light is on too, but it is the other two lights i am worried about.

also the steering wheel sits tilted to the left but it barely pulls. could all this be because it was knocked out of toe alignment?

any help would be great.

It could very well be more than just alignment. You did damage to the front suspension. You need to get the car into a shop as soon as you can. For what it's worth, the damage would be covered by your insurance collision coverage. If it's more than just an alignment, which it probably is, it might be worth it to use your insurance.

I agree with this. Bent suspension arms IMO.

Same thing happened to me a few years back with my s2k. Steering wheel tilted with bent right wheel. I think whaap is right, you're better off using your insurance since its possible that it could be more than an alignment issue.

insurance company said to file the claim after i try everything else. and because it was my fauly NC law gives a $500 minimum deductable. if someone had hit me then i wouldn't have a deductable....

so im going to through it on my alignment machine wednesday and look at at, the take it to the dealer and just say that i need to know why these lights are coming on.

and last case i will use the insurance company to fix her up....damn yesterday was a day that one thing after another just kept happening and that was the icing on the cake. looks like ill have to drive the Evo till wednesday when i can fix the alignment, or friday when i can get it to the dealership.

all else fails i will pay the 500 and get it fixed. So much for my DD.

like just the tie rod or deeper you think? tie rods can't be more than $500. Should i just get the insurance involved today and get this rollin or try all the earlier steps that i menthioned.

Not sure. I bent a lca on other cars with similar impacts. Throw it on the rack and see. If caster is out of whack, lca....

Lights are maybe steering angle sensor related if it got hit hard enough or maybe a broken wheel speed sensor?

whitefrs 02-26-2013 10:17 AM

It could be a wheel speed sensor too

thanks you to. i am going to try alignment, subie, then insurance. since i have all stock wheels maybe subie will fix them.

When i broke my angle sensor on the evo Mitsu fixed it no questions asked and i have like 20g's in that car.

I've seen impacts take out the LCA, spindle, and strut before it sounds like it hit pretty hard so probably looking at 2 out of 3 if not all.

FrX 02-26-2013 10:46 AM

The LCA on these cars is pretty lightweight. I'd look at those and the tie rods first. Though the trac light makes it sound like you damaged an ABS sensor, so the spindles may need a look at as well.

Bingo. ABS sensor was my guess.

#firstworldproblems I hit a curb with my FRS so I have to drive my Evo now.

Not that I'm ridiculing you. That really does suck for having a car out of commission. Hopefully its just a sensor and no structural damage.
