Launch in AT transmission?

Hi, does anyone have any idea how to launch 86 in AT transmission? I did tried it with all trc and vsc off, but once I put the gear at M, the car start rolling. Can't rev it at all. Once I press the break and gas pedal together it seems like the car force to move forward (I afraid I spoil the break pad). I read somewhere in this forum that the car can be rev up to 4k rpm before launch, but how to do that since the car already start rolling once I put the gear at M? Any trick needed?

1. Find your stall speed.
a. In an empty parking lot, or somewhere desolate, put one foot down HARD on the brake pedal and then slowly apply the gas pedal until the rpms come up and stop rising. that is the stall speed that I will refer to later.
b. write this number down, mark it on your guage face with a non permanent marker, or memorize the needles position. you will need this later.

2. Practice.
a. Using the 2 foot technique (one on gas and one on brake) determine the amount of brake pedal pressure needed to hold the car in place with the engine at the stall RPM.
b. Now with your foot on the brake with the needed amount of pressure slowly raise the engine RPM to the stall, then drop back from the stall by 200 RPM.
c. Finally, this is the tricky part where you need cordination. Release the brake pedal WHILE mashing the gas. the 2 actions have to happen at the same time, if you bounce off the stall your launch is ruined.

3. Experiment
a. Find at what engine rpm you feel like you get the best launch from. different cars with different mods have different power bands. some may launch the best right at stall while others may do better several hundred rpm below stall.

You can rev it higher, as long as you don't press the brake all the way in. If you press it all the way in, REVs are limited (runaway acceleration "avoidance"). You may get some roll or wheel spin so you won't be able to hold it long.

As described above, you have to experiment with it. I only did it once to see if it works and never got around to trying to really play with it since I'm not drag racing.

Why do you want to launch at all? The few times someone wants to race me at a light I rev my engine in neutral then laugh as they launch super hard and speed off as I just leisurely drive.

Got a highschool kid in a 5series to nearly go off the road last week, wish I had a dashcam it was so precious.

Yup, seeing kids nearly wreck and hurt themselves is so precious... Really?

Hitting a curb at 35mph with too many people in the car (I know this because he had the decal showing that he was on his cinderella permit) wouldn't hurt anyone and would teach him a lesson about showing off in a car.

Not positive, but the pedal dance may eliminate the issues with the runaway safety feature.

This is highly interesting. Like Dadhawk, I tried the ol' brake stand launch once just to see if you could do it, but it's tricky as heck. This would improve things greatly if it works.

Brake stand launch if done correctly can toast a mt 09' tdi golf

Some good advice here, but I have a much easier way:

1. Get in car
2. Drive to dealership
3. Trade in AT car for MT
4. ?????
5. Profit

Not trying to start a war, just having some fun ;)

Uh... Yeah. If they're going to drive like retards, they deserve to crash like retards. I can say this because I'm still a "kid".

I am too. I'm 20, but hearing an adult say it would be precious to see kids crash is fucking stupid. I hope he doesn't think it's very precious if his kid were to get hurt doing the same.
