Engine Swap

with all the turbo kits producing 220-280 ish whp at a cost of ~5000$

There is a 2009 Audi 3.2 FSI engine locally for sale for ~1700$
3.2 FSI, 3.2 FSI quattro CALA 2007- 3,197 cc (195 cu in) 24v V6 265 PS (195 kW; 261 hp) @6500 330 N·m (243 lb·ft) @3000-5000

pretty sexy numbers at a bargain price. how much is a FA20 worth?

More or less Blasphemous than LS swap

let the Flame throwers commence:D

The question is, how much does it weigh (might offset the balance of the car alot) and how much will it cost in custom fab? You will also need a new trans and maybe a custom driveshaft and/or diff. Could be well over 5k compared to a turbo.

Swapping an engine into a new car is a huge waste of time and money. If you're going to do it at least pick a good engine that's powerful and reliable. Certain EJs are good, but LSJuan is better if you're after the big power.

$3400 in mods would put you pretty close to 260BHP.

Sure the cost of the engine is cheap (but its also used) the cost of swapping a German V6 into a Toyota/Subaru platform will far exceed the 5k...

Or, just buy the stage 2 Fullblown turbo that is capable of 500whp on stock block :iono:

Wait, am I getting trolled???

ft86me 02-24-2013 06:30 PM

our motors provide the lower center of gravity. swapping the motor would really start to mess with the overall weight distribution that engineers came up with. Keep in mind that with a turbo you can always push more power with a bigger turbo and upgrading components.

This guy has to be trolling. The ls swap is what...10-15k? Swap in a vag motor? Lol why?

Whiteoutjames 02-24-2013 06:46 PM

yes i know is expensive to adapt trans, eng mounts, exhaust, electronics but to me its a toyota chassis with a subaru engine. i like linear torque and N/A throttle response. it isn't trolling if i announce that i expect to get heated responses right? whats wrong with Audi

husker741 02-24-2013 06:59 PM

2jz-gte if swapping.

There are so many better motors that can be had for cheaper, produce more power, and are more reliable.

But it's also more expensive because EVERYTHING right now would be a custom job. 240's are easier because many vendors have motor mounts and harnesses etc making swaps a lot easier.

I'd say a motor swap would run you ~$10,000 right now.
Whereas a good boost kit for ~$6000 could get you up to 500whp.

this man speaks the truth. IMO you bought the wrong car if your after monster power.

 260hp monster power?!? You guys like to ignore posts and just improvise, I never said 500whp, I just said N/A

Well then keep it in the family and do a 1UZ or 3UZ if you want NA horsepower like that.

It's a Toyota body on a Subaru chassis. The suspension is almost a direct takeoff from the Impreza except for portions of the front. If you have the money by all means do a swap but not with that engine. You can get a Toyota V6 for pretty cheap.

DelayedBRZ 02-24-2013 10:38 PM

NA EJ may be a little easier

You can try to minimize CG (if your really worried about it) issue by using and engine that is reasonably close to the FA, the EG or EZ H-6. Your still in the ballpark of the VAG in power (220-260hp) and may have an easier time matching the Aisin 6 speed with a reasonably close drive angle (low). Troll or not its a viable idea. There have been several V-8 swaps, so why not a 6 cyl of some sort. Hada-San gave us a canvas, use whatever media of color you wish.
