Thanks for getting this started JR. I've actually been thinking about this too. I think we had a couple of suggestions from the off-topic chat, so I'll just mention it again.

Mt. Hamilton:
-The Subie folks had BAM (bay area meet) here, nice picnic area, lots of parking: http://www.sccgov.org/sites/parks/Ri...unty-Park.aspx
-Should be a nice ride up to the location (130) and can continue to the Lick Observatory

Lake Del Valle:
-A little bit closer for our central valley folks (since we've had the last two in the bay area)
-Good big picnic area too, but could get crowded since lots of boaters & swimmers: http://www.ebparks.org/parks/del_valle
-Drive down Mines rd.

wow joseph d grand park is so huge. cant even figure out and visualize the picnic area from the map.

may need to drive down there and check it out. or is there anyone closer willing to do it?

basically need a pic of the parking lot and picnic grounds

but from the looks of it the picnic grounds are not covered!! boooo

BigFatFlip 02-24-2013 01:23 AM

Dang, wished I knew, I was just there last Monday could have taken some pics. From what i remember, the picnic area is not covered but there are lots of trees and its well shaded.

how about the BBQ pits? is it big enough like stafford's??

BigFatFlip 02-24-2013 01:35 AM

Hmmm, not sure but I vaguely remember a large pit one. BAM folks were bbq-ing so its at least a decent size I think.

I really like Mt. Hamilton, but here's a couple more ideas... from past car club meets/bbq/drives:

- Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz (Drive Hwy 9 etc. down, bbq at park)

- San Leandro Marina (I think the club booked event at the El Torito restaurant)

- Hangar at Alameda. A few years ago SYTFU held a massive all cars meet here, it was incredible. Don't know who they knew or how much they had to pay to rent this place but it was both inside and outside a massive hangar. Room for hundreds of cars. Some photos of the venue here: http://www.tsxclub.com/forums/south-...avel-base.html
(yeah we probably won't have that many cars or need that much space but one can always dream...BIG :) )

Nice, I remember BAM doing a meet at the Naval base in one of the hangars, made for a really cool group pic on the runway. Pics here for an idea of the place: http://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=22164

I have no idea who organized it but it was in one of wineries in the area, I think you can rent out the back hangar. I believe this was the place: http://www.rockwallwines.com/privateevents

Not sure how much its gonna cost though (I think people paid $20? don't remember), looks pretty fancy tho... maybe if we do get 80+ people

I vote somewhere in the east bay to accomodate south bay and central valley folks since last time it was in Marin County.

Lake Del Valle - Mines Rd sounds good :D

I can go check Mt. Hammy out this week. I've never been there but I can see the peak from my house so it can't be too far... lol.

All great ideas. +1 for an eastbay location.

Were you guys thinking of just a twin's meet or all cars?

Just like the last time, other scion, toyota, and subies are always welcome to join

finch1750 02-24-2013 06:47 PM

I vote Lake De Valle. Mines road is a great drive, and I don't have to leave at the but crack of dawn.

The Alameda idea is cool, but if I remember them trying to do Bam there again recently and it was pretty expensive. Not sure we have a bit enough turn out for that

M&M_Hwy9 02-24-2013 10:43 PM

Been thinking about a meet here in Santa Cruz for a while. We could meet up at the Canepa Auto Museum, go for a drive, meet up at Roaring Camp (they can do catered BBQ) or Henry Cowell (for DIY BBQ).
