Perrin Cold Air
 

Was looking at the Perrin Cold Air intake. Anyone from here ourchased one? If so what kind of results are you getting?

Outstanding results. I have not yet dyno'd, but the car response is better, the sound is amazing, and it drives very nicely with no bogging or any kind of tune required.

I've got the silicon inlet tube as well. I'm extremely satisfied with the Perrin CAI as I replaced my aFe with it. This is definitely how our cold air intakes should be, inside the bumper out of our hood.

I second FR-S Matt's opinions and also have the full Perrin intake.

I would also consider the FA20 and VMS intakes too :)

I have the inlet tube/CAI and I notice a huge difference and love them. Pretty much everything that Matt said.

I put in all at once, Perrin inlet, CAI, Over pipe, front pipe, catback, transmission support & Pulley.
I cant say ive noticed the difference tooo much, but there are differences. def more fun to drive.

Chirpies from 1st to 2nd, require less effort now
4th pulls harder than before, which can be troublesome in 80km/h zones

But, take what i say with a grain of salt :) im pretty unobservant.

I'll have to do some comparisons with a stock 86, @Surok :D

My CAI and inlet tube are on the way, UPS tracking says tuesday. I'll pull the bumper tomorrow I think, that way when it gets in the rest of the install will be faster after work. Looking forward to hearing the difference, between camera microphones and computer speakers, videos never do justice.

Careful with the plastic push pins, they break easily and bend easily with a screwdriver. It's easy once the bumper is off.

The most difficult part for me was getting the filter to stay on the tube properly without falling off. I'd tighten the clamp and the fliter would want to slide off, even after wiping it down. Once you get it on there, just carefully tighten it.

Enjoy the intake! You will be very pleased. It's a high quality Perrin product. Yes, the videos do no justice in the sound. I promise, you will hear it and love it. It gets mean at 4k rpm and above.

I got some push pin pliers to make it a bit easier, they are a pain in the backside. My fiance's old car had a bunch to remove to get to the headlights, poor design by Hyundai.

I already plan on ordering about 8-10 more as backups because they're so flimsy.

Can I see a picture of your engine bay?

I recently installed the Vigilant Motorsports CAI on 4-20-13. Yesterday a check engine light came on. The cause was a lean sensor. Had to reinstall the stock intake to fix the issue. I don't recommend it. I can't speak to the FA20 though.

I have to agree Perrin is the best intake on the market right now if your planning to go untuned. However if your planning to tune the car, get the AFE takeda. It responds better to tuning (notably the FA20club tune) by a couple of HP/TQ, which is worth it considering the cost of the tune in extracting as much HP as possible. Jeremy from ft86speedfactory can back me up :)
