Keep stock muffler with other exhaust mods?

Do you think I can still gain power if I keep the stock muffler on but replace the front and over pipe? I would like to keep my car sounding close to stock but would also like to have some power gains.

you will probably gain power from replacing the front pipe since you will delete a cat or run hfc.

I wonder if the exhaust would sound like crap without a cat on the front pipe while keeping the stock muffler. Has anyone had the chance to hear the stock setup with just a front pipe added?

Interested in this. I want to keep my car looking as stock as possible when I have FI

I had a catless front pipe with stock muffler. Sounds different, but minimal. You will be able to tell the difference in sound from inside the cabin, but once you turn on the radio you will barely hear any difference. I would definitely adivse going this route. I now have a dual muffler delete with the catless front pipe, but I feel like I will put on my stock muffler once I get an over pipe.

also, there was no rasp or drone coming from the catless front pipe.

Same hear, my ricer days are pretty much over and the drone and waking up the neighbors is not worth 10hp to me....

Did you notice any increase in performance from the catless front pipe with the stock muffler or was it simply just a tone change?

It would be sweet to cut open the stock muffler and take out all the baffling/restrictions and then weld it shut again. Total stealth look and it would probably sound better. Maybe.

Both. A bit more responsive all around, but mostly in the high rpm's. I bought mine for $200 from P&L Motorsports. If you can, i would buy a drop in filter, silicone tube, the over pipe and front pipe and install all together. I think you will be happy with that setup.

If not, then a drop in filter with front pipe, followed by the over pipe, then silicone tube.

If tuned for it...you will gain a few hp. Deff a good route to go on any platform.

I actually just received my HKS drop in and Perrin inlet tube. I will be installing those when the snow melts away here in St.Louis.

I was thinking of purchasing this combo for exhaust -
Agency Power Over Pipe & Front Pipe

Would you say that the catless front pipe with stock muffler is acceptable for a daily driver? I don't want drone going 60-75mph.

Replacing just the midpipe will gain you 6HP

LOL! Not sure how old you two are, but its funny how priorities change when you get a little older (I'm 31). I never had the "fortune" of ricing out my cars, but I just sold my second modded cobra. While I just lost about 350rwhp, it is SO NICE to have a practical car, hearing my radio, and being able to talk on the phone while driving.

I can't wait to see your FI setups! :party0030:
