I was able to find fun roads to drive, despite all my normal driving roads being closed these past two weekends, thanks to your video. Appreciate it. |

Did 84 all the way to San Gregorio last Saturday morning. It was nice on the bottom (by Buck's), clear enough by Alice's Restaurant, but got really smoky by San Gregorio's General Store.

Started at 9am, drove to San Gregorio General Store again this morning, but this time via Hwy 9 (top notch surface these days), 35 before turning at Alice's. And backtracked to Hwy 9 again going home.
Saw a few BRZ/86 along the way, including one (waved) at the bottom of Hwy 9 (on my way back). I'll need to be more creative next time. I've only been taking pics when I stopped to turn around, not stop to take pics. :) |
Ran HWY9 from Saratoga to Skyline, to Alice's, to Pescadero Creek Rd. and on to Pescadero for the first time in quite a while due to the brushfires and other stuff going on.
Overall not too bad. Occasional slow cars that don't let you pass but that's pretty standard. Tons of cyclists and motorcyclists out today, though. Also quite a few areas with rocks. It looked like one section of 84 has recently had work done to clean up the rock face on the side and they didn't do a good job cleaning up rocks/dirt that made it onto the pavement from the work (lame). Otherwise not bad and I kept scanning along the road but never saw anywhere touched by fire on Pescadero Creek Rd. despite the brushfire maps last month showing fires like right on it. So that was nice. There are also currently signs scattered on Skyline and 84 around Alice's with "Thank you" notes from locals for first responders. Thought that was cool to see. Got to drive with a newer buddy who has an A90: https://i.imgur.com/eUQODnI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yf4r6uk.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GPryz3g.jpg |

Same!!! My 86 is all stock though :(
For now... |
Saw a yellow frs/brz on 35 this past Sunday afternoon. Anyone on here?
|
Anyone driven Mines Rd recently?
|
Greasy and tree debris by accounts on BARF.
|
Cool, thanks. Thinking about driving it again one of these weekends.
|
|
BARF forum posts point to it being an unfortunate situation of a rider with a pre-existing health condition who succumbed to his ailments mid-ride. RIP.

I'll be organizing a drive to Alice's Restaurant.
We'll be meeting at 1324 W Hillsdale Blvd, San Mateo, CA 94403 at 7:45am. We'll head out for a drive around 8am. All cars welcome! Please feel free to join. https://i.imgur.com/c8g1PQa.jpg |

Darn if only I didn't have meetings in the morning on Saturdays :P |
Drove Mines today and the road is in excellent shape, very minimal gravel in only 2-3 corners. Overall very enjoyable!
|
Any plans for a drive next month?
|
Any roads in norcal that are a must drive? Got my '22 and went through highway 9 already.
|
Leggett to the ocean, 1, 3, 96, 36, 299 all west of 5.
70, 89 through Lassen, 49, in the Sierras and around Tahoe. Look for the roads that aren't straight lines. |

Hey everyone (not sure how active this thread is these days, haha).
I am currently working on an iPhone app for recording driving routes. I'll be needing some help with testing, running through basic usage of the app, and possible feature ideas in the next couple weeks. I would love to get some feedback from the community. The attached screenshots are a quick idea of how things currently look for the main part of the app. Current requirement: You need an iPhone running iOS 15.x. https://i.imgur.com/egPFcUt.png https://i.imgur.com/CJqtTSo.png Anyone who helps out with this will get a free promo code for the app once I actually publish it to the store. If you're interested, leave me a message here/in a DM and I'll reach out once I have a test build uploaded to Apple's TestFlight service. Thank you! |

Carrizo Plain is superblooming now.
Pretty much all dirt roads out there though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXi5XTKBWSU |
RC gliders?
|
Powered. Pretty sure they're not gliding on thermals.
|
Yeah I just meant the design of them looked like a glider vs a straight RC airplane.

Yesterday dropped off my dog in Daly City, then took the scenic route back down to the South Bay for the evening.
Highway 1 through Pacifica, HMB, Pescadero. Then Pescadero Creek Rd up to Alice's, Skyline to highway 9, highway 9 to Sempivirens Point, then back highway 9 past Skyline and down into saratoga. Most of it was solid. Barely any traffic on 1. On pescadero creek I got stuck behind a truck with camper and an suv behind it for about a 1/3 of the way to Alice's until they finally turned off for a campground :eyeroll:. Smooth sailing to 9. When I was heading toward the 9 vista, a dumb ass in a blueish A90 Supra coming from the opposite direction decided to pass another car before a blind corner and where it's double solid yellow, and as I turned the corner saw he was headed right at me. Fortunately he completed the pass with maybe 100m to spare but it felt way too reckless and stupid. At the vista there were a ton of kids with sports cars of course. Popular spot for that kind of stuff. So I chose to head back down. I got to four corners (9 and skyline intersection) and a Golf flashed its beams at me and the driver told me through our windows there was a five car crash at the bottom of 9. So I took it really slow the whole way down waiting for the inevitable mess and worrying I'd have to turn around and go all the way to Scott's valley or Santa Cruz if the road was blocked. Fortunately the cars were almost all in the shoulders and law enforcement/emergency workers hadn't arrived yet so I was able to safely squeeze through over some debris. I think a BRZ was one of the cars. Hopefully they're all OK! On the whole drive I saw a TON of twins. I counted three or four separate Neptune Blue GR86's as well. Nice to see people out on a nice Friday evening. @BigFatFlip and I met up today at 7am to drive some roads east of Napa near Lake Berryessa.
First we drove Monticello Rd/121 from the Napa side to where it intersects with 128. We then drove 128 over to Lake Hennessey and then doubled back and took 128 all the way to where it ends up in Winters. Overall, really nice roads with some fun sections of repeating S-curves, and long sweeping turns that seem to last longer than you think they should as you hold your line and speed. Perfect roads for twins or any other fun sports cars! The only thing that's unfortunate is that these nice roads aren't longer! I suppose you can always double back and run them a few times in a row. And after you try them out, you might want to do just that. Lots of elevation changes and interesting scenery. I'm already trying to think of when I can get back up there and drive them again. Simply fun and enjoyable. |
