I'm down for some Peninsula driving on Sunday morning. I've got a route in mind, with some really great tight backroads the the 86 would shine on. Basically 1 south to Stage Rd into Pescadero, up Pescadero Creek Rd to Alpine Rd and down Page Mill to 280.

Anyone down to try that? We could meet up in Daly City or Pacifica for some quick coffee, then head down 1 and drive Devils Slide before it closes forever, and get on with the route. It would be about 2 hrs from Pacifica to Page Mill & 280.

Redwood rd would be best for me, since I might be in an "on-call" situation that morning and may have to leave mid-drive. Devil's slide would be second choice but Marina might be too far for me. What time were you guys thinking?

I can do East Bay too if that's better for everyone else. I'm gonna want to do a Peninsula drive sometime in the next month or so regardless :).

Yeah, that sounds like a nice drive, just so happens that this weekend is extra crappy with work for me, but don't let me spoil your fun, lol. I would want to do that drive some time too. I find myself heading south at halfmoon bay most of the time, I forget that there are some sweet roads up north too ;)

Fer sher. The Northbay has some really excellent drives too. We've got it made in the Bay Area.

How many backroads are there in a 100 mile radius (+/- if you know) worth taking? What do you think of picking 12 (or more) and make a scheduled driving schedule? Would be on top of the sporadic drives.

So many great ideas... there are lots of great roads here, I can think of at least 10 off the top of my head. Some inspiration here:

Here's what I'm thinking for this weekend.

Saturday. I told myself I am gonna go to the range and re-sight in my rifle. So I will be at the Chabot Gun Club around 10AM and afterwards (around 12PM) maybe cruise a little at Pinehurst and Skyline. Anyone's welcome to join me. I have to go into work at some point though so around 1-2PM I will head to the Peninsula. After a little work I may be up for a drive around the 280 area... 84 and/or Skyline. It's going to be kind of playing it by ear though so if you are interested in joining me, PM me and we'll exchange phone #s. I'll text whoever's interested about where I am and where I am headed next.

Sunday. Yeah Marina's too far to go just to spectate. I'd rather DRIVE! Sounds like Devil's Slide is too inconvenient for some of us this particular weekend, we can do it one of the next few weekends. So let's keep it East Bay this weekend. Meet at say Orinda/24 around 930AM and drive San Pablo Dam Rd/Wildcat? I haven't driven this area in years so if someone knows a good spot to meet up please throw it out. Then maybe take Grizzly Peak/Redwood Rd back down home.

I'm open to adjustments/suggestions too. :)

How do I say 'damn you' nicely haha. Friends going out to Livermore for traps too. Both parties I'm missing out. Shiny side up. And squeeze don't pull :)

Not sure if this has been brought up before but I would like to bring up the website

www.pashnit.com

It's actually a roads guide for motorcycles but these same twisty works for cars too :) they have some really good description, maps, and pictures included with the roads and routes. highly recommend signing up with them. just take a look at their free sample. not affiliated with them in anyway just thought i'd help out.

oh yes pashnit is great... I practically memorized all the local road info from it back when it was free to browse, years ago. I ought to throw them some money now in appreciation for all the great fun I've had on the roads they cover.

on a side note its 10AM and i still haven't left for the range yet... not that anyone indicated they'd be joining me, but I won't get there until probably 11 and then everything else I planned will be a little behind schedule...

PMok 03-09-2013 04:26 PM

Still in CV... Pm me your cell and ill call you when I'm done at the range?
Edit : I think I have it, texted ya!
