Drove Hwy 1 to Stinson Beach yesterday for my anniversary. Then took Panoramic HWY back. Was a little foggy but not a ton of traffic so it was a good time all in all. Didnt get to drive it at the Nov meet so wanted to get it in eventually and see what i missed. Fun little road for sure

What do you think of the route and Stinson Beach? Drive/picnic worthy? PMok and I were caught in traffic so we walkie-talkied ideas. That route came up, picnic at Stinson, throw the ball around, let us soak up some sand, beach stuff...

yeah I also missed the Pano Hwy part of the drive... would like to check it out sometime. Unless you say it's not worthy haha.

Panoramic Hwy is definitely worthy. Lol. Not super long but a great road. Similar to Palomares or Tesla I would say difficulty wise. Hwy 1 going there is nothing but sharp blind turns and not really any fun beyond a couple of left handed horseshoes.

Stinson is a great beach. Super clean of ocean debris unlike other areas around here. Has a nice little grass area right next to it with BBQ pits. Would need to get there early to lock one down as well as parking as there isn't a ton. But early is what we do right? Haha

Went over the Pano from the Stinson side when I was down there.
Definitely a tight steep road through the woods. Would do it again soon as I'm able.
I did it on a weekday though. Can't say what traffic is like on a sunny weekend.

If you have a convoy, even following a motorhome would be worth the scenery.

I'm down for a highway 1 drive

PMok 05-29-2013 02:35 AM

yeah so everyone seems to like the Hwy 1 Stinson idea... I think we will make that our next major DRIVE, might take a little time to plan some more. Because it's so far away and not really close to "civilization" we were talking about making it a picnic or simple BBQ kind of thing. Potluck anyone? or bring your own bag lunch haha.

Like I said we will probably not do another major event until after Vegas. So we're looking at end of June or sometime in July. In the meantime we will probably do shorter, more local drives if people are up for it. Also there was talk of organizing some summertime Santa Cruz mountain drives as well. ;)

Im gonna have to do a drive with you guys once I get up there.

I'll be in the Roseville area. Are there good twisty roads up by there? Ive been really spoiled with Palomar Mountain here in San Diego
