Not sure if anyone has seen this new group on Facebook called Bay Area Drivers Club. Their main objective is to arrange group drives in the bay area and they seem to be quite active in doing so. I plan to go to this small drive tomorrow morning if any of you wants to join :)

Nice! How was the drive and where did you guys go?

Anyone have a loop or two to go to? I usually go to Alice's, then San Gregorio or Pescadero... down to 9 if I have more time. Once in a while, I treat myself to Mines Road.

Anyone going this weekend? :)

TOP 10 Best Driving Roads of the Bay Area

What is going on fellow 86drivers, I haven't been too active on these forums in a while. I hope you are all healthy and staying safe.

I have been doing some drives on my own or with a few friends here and there, just playing it safe with the pandemic situation. But seeing as I had an extensive collection of GoPro footage from our drives, spanning about 8 years (2013-2020), I decided to put together a list and some videos where I talk about what in my humble opinion, are the best driving roads in the Bay Area. If you've got some time to kill, take a virtual drive along with me and let's count down the 10 best. The videos are up on Youtube, and if you want access to route maps to plan your own drives via Google Maps, visit my 86drive.com website.

Would love to hear if you have thoughts about what your favorite Bay Area roads are and if it didn't make the list, let me know why you think it should have!

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this.

I was able to find fun roads to drive, despite all my normal driving roads being closed these past two weekends, thanks to your video. Appreciate it.

Man PMok, watching your video makes me so homesick. I sure miss those roads. Living 55 years 10-15 minutes from hwy 9, my list would be a bit different. We rarely did east bay roads with Santa Cruz mountains in our backyard. Nice job.

Glad to hear you found it useful! Be safe out there, I know with the wildfires currently continuing to burn, several of the local roads near me remain closed it seems. Curious, what roads did you take?

Thanks! Oh for sure if I lived closer to Hwy 9, I admit that I would probably rank it a bit higher on my list. But in the top 5 is still quite respectable I think. ;)
Thanks for revisiting (virtually) the roads with me, hope you get to come back out to visit again sometime.

I always go around dawn to keep traffic and bikers to a minimum.

Hecker Pass - I also connected it to 1 and 17 on my loop back home.

Did 84 all the way to San Gregorio last Saturday morning. It was nice on the bottom (by Buck's), clear enough by Alice's Restaurant, but got really smoky by San Gregorio's General Store.

Started at 9am, drove to San Gregorio General Store again this morning, but this time via Hwy 9 (top notch surface these days), 35 before turning at Alice's. And backtracked to Hwy 9 again going home.

Saw a few BRZ/86 along the way, including one (waved) at the bottom of Hwy 9 (on my way back).

I'll need to be more creative next time. I've only been taking pics when I stopped to turn around, not stop to take pics. :)

Ran HWY9 from Saratoga to Skyline, to Alice's, to Pescadero Creek Rd. and on to Pescadero for the first time in quite a while due to the brushfires and other stuff going on.

Overall not too bad. Occasional slow cars that don't let you pass but that's pretty standard. Tons of cyclists and motorcyclists out today, though. Also quite a few areas with rocks. It looked like one section of 84 has recently had work done to clean up the rock face on the side and they didn't do a good job cleaning up rocks/dirt that made it onto the pavement from the work (lame).

Otherwise not bad and I kept scanning along the road but never saw anywhere touched by fire on Pescadero Creek Rd. despite the brushfire maps last month showing fires like right on it. So that was nice.

There are also currently signs scattered on Skyline and 84 around Alice's with "Thank you" notes from locals for first responders. Thought that was cool to see.

Got to drive with a newer buddy who has an A90:
