Shark fin antenna on top of opti-coat
Is there anyone who has put on the beat sonic or VG shark fin antenna after opti-coating your car?
Does the shark fin stick on well? I'm thinking if I should wait until my shark fin antenna arrives before opti-coating my car. |
I've done it on my client's car after opti coating and it was fine.

Mine is constantly getting unglued on the rear portion. ( I have had the 3m adhesive resent to me) its rather frustrating actually...
|
Wondering the same thing, already had opti coat and Modellista fin is in transit....
|
I was told i shouldn't have a problem mounting 3M accessories over my opticoat but to play it safe, 3M adhesion promoter is always a good bet. That's what i plan on doing for my spoiler to make sure it sticks on good.

The detailer i went to, Bryan (mr sparkle) told me it should be fine since it hardens and becomes essentially a hydrophobic clear coat.

I got my VG sharkfin antenna on for a couple months already now... I re-did my 3M tape before I put it on because the one that came with it sucks...
Also have my car opti-coated when I first took delivery. No problems here! |

The 3M that came with the VG sharkfin was very... unreliable it seems... Read through that thread and you will see what I mean... |
did my sonic beat on third day after opti coat, so far so goo and i think the key is the preparation. make sure surface is clean and wipe off with supplied wipe. also, try to push down the antenna as long as possible before letting go.

How have you guys found radio (FM) reception with the shark fin?
My reception is not great but as I put the shark fin on car delivery I'm not sure if it is worse than the OEM aerial. . |
