FINALLY!!!! The rear LCAs were installed today and the wheels and tires mounted. I have some more work that needs to be done in the rear to clear the tires.
A huge thanks to Forrest and Kyle of Texas Track Works. This is the second time I've brought a car to them to roll the fenders and align the car. It's obvious they take pride in their work and it shows in the quality. What can you tell us about this electronic coilover overall? Sounds like you enjoy them and that their ride is pretty damned good overall? What kind of spring rates are they and any eta on arrival to market and pricing or is this all a long ways away??
There was a fellow here that was working on Bilstein damptronic electronic coilovers however that never got final life. |

It's more comfortable and compliant. The system basically consists of a control unit which is mounted under the middle console. There's an accelerometer built into the unit. There are 5 levels of adjustment for static front dampening, static rear dampening, adaptive anti-pitch, and adaptive anti-roll. For daily driving, I set it to full stiff on anti-pitch and anti-roll, and full soft on static dampening. Driving around town, it's comfortable and compliant, but as soon as you hit the brakes, accelerate, or turn, the accelerometer senses the change in orientation and automatically stiffens the necessary shocks. The shocks respond within 6ms. So if you slam on the brakes, the front two shocks stiffen up and keep the car level. The same thing happens for cornering, but just on the outside shocks. It's quite remarkable. As far as time to market, I believe HVT (same owner as AST) wants to have them available within the first half of this year. I believe beginning retail will be north of $3k. |
I desperately need to buy a real camera and learn how to use it. Even on an iPhone 5S, night time or low light photos look like complete crap. There's so much noise in the photos they're almost not even worth taking. I can't wait to get the real shots made.

A big thanks to @fteightysix for the new Beatsonic FDA9 sharkfin antenna group buy!
Product: The antenna itself seems to be a perfect paint match. I'll be able to tell more once it's sunny outside. The quality of the unit is absolutely stellar. There are zero gaps in the "shroud" that goes around the antenna. It sits perfectly flush. It's a really great look and fits the lines of the car better than any other sharkfin option I've seen. Installation: Yesterday, it was 79 degrees and sunny here in Dallas. Today, it's 27 degrees and currently snowing outside. Typical Texas weather for you... so I had to bust out the heat gun and all that crap to get the metal and adhesive up in the recommended 86+ degree temperature range. The install was very straight forward except for the template. I wasn't a big fan of it and decided to simply eye ball it with a couple pieces of tape in front of and behind the antenna with center lines marked. Pictures: Sorry for the iphone quality! All white lighting except very light amber, close to yellow, for the LCD screens on the gauge, the HVAC status LEDs, and the ring around the volume knob.
