New Product: Scorpion Stainless Steel Exhaust System
Hi Guys,
Essex is now offering Scorpion's fantastic new stainless steel exhaust system for the FT86. If you're not familiar with Scorpion, they're one of the premier exhaust manufacturers in England. They provide many of Europe's top auto racing teams with exhaust systems. For example, in 2012 Scorpion supplied exhausts to all five of the class champions in the British Tour Car Championship! They are also one of the top exhaust suppliers in motorcycle racing around the world. In other words, they have loads of experience squeezing gobs of power from small displacement engines, and making them sound killer in the process! You can read more on Scorpion's racing exploits here. Essex is proud to be the exclusive importer and distributor of Scorpion Exhausts in North America. Scorpion's offering for the FT86 is a top quality 2.5" fully stainless system, produces great power , and sounds amazing. We have it on our shop BRZ and it is awesome. We are now accepting orders by phone (it will be up on our eCommerce site later today), and deliveries should begin in roughly three weeks. Please visit our blog for complete information and pricing. Click here to see and hear a video of Scorpion's FT86 exhaust in action. (FYI there's no sound in this video for the first 35 seconds, so don't crank your speakers!) I love black exhaust tips. I assume the "link pipe" is the mid pipe or whatever the hell Subaru calls the Bpipe in the honda world? I'm assuming the higher dyno number is for the header back system (overpipe, downpipe, mid pipe and axleback) and the slightly lower number is just midpipe and axleback?

Not bad! Decent gains, looks and sounds good!

Yep...link pipe is what we've always called a B-Pipe. The Europeans have different names for everything. It causes some confusion for sure. Yes, bigger dyno numbers were with all of the bits from the overpipe to the muffler. The lower number was just what we refer to as cat-back...everything behind the secondary cats. In this case that would mean the link pipe (B-pipe) and muffler. It sounds great on our car. I'm digging it for sure. I thought the OEM setup sounded really timid and lame. The Scorpion setup has a great growl with a deeper note than stock, but it fortunately doesn't drone on the highway. It definitely sounds like a sports car now, no longer a grocery getter! Scorpion is totally legit and makes really nice stuff. We (Essex) only deal with high-end brands, which is why we are working with them. Obviously you can see from their success in racing that they are well-regarded in Europe and elsewhere. They just aren't well known outside of sport bikes in North America yet. Hopefully we can change that.:) |
Pretty cool exhaust. I looks like the overpipe and uppipe (the first two pipes after the header - they go by multiple names, Scorpion refers to the uppipe as "cat replacement pipe") as well as the entire catback (midpipe and axleback section as one piece - obviously the axleback linkage is different than OEM) all integrate with stock component flanges or other aftermarket exhaust options which link to OEM location/type flanging? Is that that the case?
This info would be most helpful for people considering mixing and matching OEM or other aftermarket options with this exhaust. |

This really looks like a top notch system. Is that video the resonated or unresonated version? I'd be interested in seeing a video of the resonated version from outside and inside the cabin at freeway cruising speeds.

Love that overpipe for $188.

Nice system, but I'm not keen on having no cats and I refuse to put a cat in the header. That would be cruel and unusual; kitties are animals too! |
