Body Shop or Scion/Toyota paint specialists in Long Island NY
I am interested in having a body shop fill the front license plate bumper holes, sand and paint to look like new and also repair/repaint the underside of the front bumper lip due to curb/drive way scratches (from when i was getting used to how low the car was after my eibach drop :mad0260: ) I will then look to get the front tow hook license plate relocator.
anyone have any experiences with any local body shops that do awesome work and are reasonably priced (maybe offer a discount if i pay cash?) any recommendations? after the damage is repaired then i would look to get opti-coated |
my advice is to leave it alone. I also had my bumper repaired due to stone ships and one time, I ram a lamppost (nothing serious). But now I wish I didn’t fix it. The pearl white will never match. Now, assuming if you want to get it repair over small things, chances r, you’re picky like me n you’ll properly spot the colour difference after the repair (yes I know the bumpers don much to begin with, but my new paint does not match the rear bumper, it’s a shade or two too white).
I took my car to several body shops after my new paint job, n asked them if they can match it better. They all told me the first guy did a pretty good job matching and they can’t say for sure they can do a better job. The only way to match closely, is to “blend” with the rest of the front end (hood, fenders, etc). The quote I got for that was about $1.8k n I don’t recommend it. After market paint don’t hold up as well as factory paint (I know ppl are going to argue with me on this one, but 8/10 times, they don’t). Another reason I don’t like it is because you’re adding another layer of paint to your car. Paint is heavy, n with only 200hp on tap, ever pound counts. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...46211695_n.jpg if you look closely at my picture, the bumper is a bit too white. I even went back to the dealership on a cloudy day (u cant see it in the sun) and compared it to the one whiteout they had. I parked next to it to do a comparison and my bumper was indeed more white, n my car hasnt yellowed much. Although 9/10 ppl don’t notice it. Because it’s my car, it bothers me. but still, if you decide to fix it. i wish you the best of luck n let me know how it comes out. |

all that being said.... few years back my gs-r got painted and I had the front bumper holes filled. Place right near you actually. "Advanced Auto Body" in Bellmore. Short ride for you to get an estimate if nothing else. Bobby is a nice guy (owner). Stop by and see what he says |

Thanks i will check them out and see what they say...if its inexpensive then i might go for it. thanks for the referral |
My biggest fear of having the front bumper repainted from rock chips is the paint match on pearl white :( I have seen too many cars with repainted front bumpers (pearl white, pearl orange, pearl yellow) and have rarely seen anything satisfactory to the way it came from the factory.
