Wilwood Big Brake Kit Installed
 
Just installed the Wilwood Brake kit front and rear. What a difference in both feel and stopping power.

FRONT
Type: Forged Narrow Superlite 6R

Specs on wheels..

I'm thinking of doing a full front and rear BBK. Liking the wilwood and ap racing kits. Can we expect a review or DIY in the near future ?

I weighed the stock wheel and tire at 41 Lbs

Too late for DIY, but will do a review once it is broken in. The Wilwood came with great instructions. The APR is straight forward.

I did not, but Speed Factory did. I think it was 8 pounds a corner less than stock. Front corner was 22.7 pounds.

Guessing tax returns came in :-) I just installed my wilwoods up front, gonna be a while before I throw em on the rear, car looks amazing. Just out of curiosity what exhaust are you running?

Nice work, @msile . I was looking at the range of pads for that caliper LINK to Wilwood Database

How beefy are the rotors? What type of cooling fins do they use? With names like "superlite" and "narrow" I just wanted some feedback on whether they would handle a track pad for race days. Some forum members suggest that under abuse they warp like a floppy tortilla... but I find that unlikely.

The rotors are fairly beefy. I don't see how they would warp very easily on track.

I was looking to see how much a similar floating system could be pieced together for. I like the technology, but going for Essex Endurance is somewhat overkill for my application. We shall see.

The calipers are known to flex and eventually taco a bit under heavy use. On brake dynos some Brembo NASCAR/Circle Track friends had them flex badly but I doubt we'll see the exact some conditions on these street cars :) The rotors should be fine.

The calipers taco? I thought it was the rotors going floppy tortilla. My mistake, wrong mexican metaphor.

If a random engineer can model the von mises stress (FEA) in Catia, I would assume that Wilwood could too... plus some thermal analysis. They have the software and the engineering talent.

That project is what got me looking in the first place at a floating system. I like the size and weight of the Wilwood system. The idea of coning our rotors and sending heat to the hubs is not cool though.

Maybe it's overkill, but I haven't found my perfect setup yet (as far as size and technology). Plenty of great designs though tho.
