My "Panda" Whiteout Scion FR-S!

Hello all, I'm new here... Migrating over from the 8thCivic forums. I used to rock a Rallye Red 2006 Honda Civic Si, but while I loved that car I really wanted something a little more sporty and RWD.

At the dealer... First picture ever!

Brought it home and...

It decided to blizzard.

It took about a week to order in a white one with 6 speed manual transmission, but it was totally worth it. I've never owned a rear wheel drive car before, so it's going to be an exciting learning experience for me. Ohio's winters can be pretty brutal, but I oilsprayed the car and plan on taking extremely good care of it. It's my first new car and my baby.

Blizzard is a verb?

seriously, congrats. but for the love of all that is right, get some winter tires on that thing so you don't end up wrecking it!

Blizzard
verb (used without object)
3.
to snow as a blizzard: Looks as though it's going to blizzard tonight.

:w00t:

But thanks! I plan on getting some Blizzaks by next winter... Anyone know if the old WRX rims fit on the FRS? Same bolt pattern, but I dunno if the offset is right.

I'm in Tallmadge, close to Kent State University where I go to school.

haha I've noticed... Thank Odin for traction control. I'm hoping this winter dies down pretty soon, because I don't really have the money to spend on new tires right now after just buying the car. Next winter I will definitely be getting some snow tires though.

Traction control nor Odin will help you brake in the snow. Snow tires will. Better to cut spending elsewhere and get proper tires for your own safety if you're getting snow like that!

Assuming your car makes it to next winter, with you driving it around on summer tires in a blizzard.

I've been driving in Ohio winters all my life, I know how it is. But this winter is almost over and if it gets too bad out I can always borrow my dad's minivan.

edit: But next paycheck I might be able to pick up a set of used winter tires on craigslist, I've been looking around. Do you know if WRX rims will fit on the FR-S? I think they'd look pretty nice for winter time.

Yes the old WRX rims will fit perfectly and work well for winter tires.

To quote something my mom and dad always say, it's not always about you, but the other guy you gotta watch out for. The extra traction is what may get you out of the way of someone else losing control. Winter tires may be the few feet difference of you avoiding someone else coming at you, or not being able to get enough traction to get out of the way.

Just look at it as most of us do; it's not an extra expense, it's part of the price of owning a car. Especially a car as sweet as the Twins!

Yeah, I know winter tires are a necessity in the snow. I plan on getting some as soon as I can... Was kind of hoping the snow would die down soon though so I could put it off until next year. I'll play it by ear for now, can't buy anything until next paycheck anyways. Worst case scenario I borrow my dad's van.
