Which LSD to take: Cusco or OS Giken

Hi,

I would like to replace my original LSD with a Cusco or OS Giken one (1.5 way).
Use: fast road trips, hand brake use, rally minded driving on narrow mostly bumpy b-roads

Can you anyone explain difference between Cusco RS or OS Giken Spec S/X?

Thanks!
Kevin

P.S. Will be placing a Cusco 4.81 final drive along.

I have a Cusco RZ in my TA22 Celica and i love it. Smooth engagement but it locks solid when needed.

I haven't driven a car with an OS Giken but i have heard nothing but good things about them. I would have to check but i think they run more friction plates than most other LSDs on the market.

Cusco make a 4.556 final drive and have an LSD to suit Toyota 4.875 and 5.125 final drive. I can't find information on a 4.81 one.

I ordered the Cusco 1.5/2 way with 5.125 gears. I'll set it up as 1.5 to start with, then will try it as a 2 way.

Correct, I meant the 4.875 one. What make LSD will you take?

Try some Grateful Dead skulls or some Albert Hoffman 50th Anniversary. :happyanim:

I may be wrong, but that final drive won't work with the OS Giken LSD. Make sure you check before you buy.

I'll take any type of LSD...

Thanks for the note, I'll pay attention.
I heart the OS Giken LSD will give less understeer while light throttle is applied and will be more progressive with their patented design with more plates.
By this design there also would be less heat in the diff and so also less wear.

Hi, how that worked out? Thanks...

I put the Cusco 1.5RS with a 4.556 final in my Sprintex SC'd automatic twin. The LSD and final drive made a huge difference on the autocross courses. I can get on the throttle so much earlier on corner exit and the final drive really helps the car accelerate more quickly. The final drive change did make it necessary to shift to 3rd on some of the faster sections of the autocross course.

The csg guys have alot of experience with these. Id talk to them.

I remember my cusco rs 2 way I had in my old s14. Worked very well but was pretty aggressive for daily driving.

Can't go wrong either way in my opinion.
